| 5/17/26 | ![]() #276: Season review | Now the dust has settled on the 2025/26 campaign, Rhys sat down over Zoom with Ian and Alfie to unpack and review what can at best be described as a topsy-turvy season for Newport County AFC.We'll likely do our usual thing of releasing episodes about every fortnight over the summer break - but within that scaled-back schedule we hope to bring you a few special interviews, some hot takes on new signings, and maybe a few bits of bonus irreverence as we all lose our minds without any football to watch. In the meantime, check out our website for all the pod info you need, and drop us a line on the socials if you have anything to tell us. As usual, our theme tune is the original 1973 recording of Come On The County - and we are brought to you in association with our friends at the Riverside Sports Bar.Until next time, look after yourselves and each other, and above all Keep It County. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information. | — | ||||||

| 2/23/26 | ![]() #264: Dimitri Batrouni | In another joint episode between the 1912 Exiles and the Dragons Lair podcast, we sat down for a chat over Zoom with Leader of Newport Council, Dimitri Batrouni. We asked about the council's commitment to both grassroots sport and pro sport in Newport, what steps it might take to support the redevelopment of Rodney Parade, and whether anything will ever get built on the Cabbage Patch. We're grateful to Dimitri for giving us his time, and we hope you find the chat useful and engaging. And then after the break we hear from Dave & Iwan about the great away win at Salford, and from Jack about the home defeat to Cambridge... Many thanks to them for their reportage. Give us a holler if you want to provide insights on next Saturday's game at Fleetwood.Do check out our shiny new website and drop us a line on the socials if you have anything to tell us, including feedback on our new theme tune (the original 1973 recording of Run Lads, Shoot Lads). | 2/16/26 | ![]() #263: The howl | After one point from nine leaves County five points adrift at the bottom of the Fourth Division, Ed caught up with Alfie, Logan and debutant George to ask what went wrong against Grimsby, Swindon and Franchise - and how on earth we can extract ourselves from this mess.Do check out our shiny new website and drop us a line on the socials if you have anything to tell us, including feedback on our new theme tune (the original 1973 recording of Run Lads, Shoot Lads). | 2/3/26 | ![]() #262: Disgruntled sigh | Well that was a week, wasn't it? After the high of the Chesterfield win, Jamie, Jack, and Alfie dissect those defeats to Accrington Stanley and Bristol Rovers, as well as a curious transfer deadline day. We're also keen to highlight the 15:01 kick off time for this weekend's Grimsby match. It's for the Every Minute Matters campaign with British Heart Foundation to raise awareness on CPR training. 8 out of 10 cardiac arrests outside of hospitals occur at home, and survival chances drop 10% for every minute without intervention. So look after your loved ones and teach yourselves the basics by checking out BHF Revivr for a 15 minute course entirely for free. Also, huge, huge thanks to everyone who has donated to the GoFundMe for Ollie - we've been blown away. We'll be back after the Grimsby home game, possibly before Swindon away. But until then, look after yourselves and each other, and above all Keep It County. Thanks as ever to the Riverside Sports Bar for their support of the pod. Our theme is Virgo by Sean T. | 1/26/26 | ![]() #261: Ollie | This week saw the awful, tragic news that podcast regular and one of our favourite people, Ollie Allen, passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of just 23.We devote a large chunk of the episode to talking about our favourite memories of Ollie and what a huge loss he will be to the fanbase and to the city. We mention the GoFundMe page set up to support his family at this difficult time, honouring a young life full of joy, loyalty, and too short a time with us. And we also praise the great work by the club and fans to organise a very moving minute's applause during Saturday's game in Ollie's memory. Thank you to everyone who made it so poignant. We touch too on recent results, last week's NCAFC Trust meeting and the transfer window - and no doubt we'll return to some of those themes in our next regular episode, most likely after the Bristol Rovers game. But until then, and in this week even more than usual, please take care, look after yourselves and each other, and above all Keep It County. Thanks as ever to the Riverside Sports Bar for their support of the pod. | 1/15/26 | ![]() #260: Transfers and Trust | After a weather-enforced break, we're back with a few bits of business:First up, Jamie sat down over Zoom with Arnie from the NCAFC Supporters' Trust to discuss next week's AGM - what's up for discussion, why are the Trust considering relinquishing some of their shares, and what's the wider picture around the financial health of the club? Then, Ed asks Alfie for his reaction to a busy week of transfer ins and outs.We catch up with the ME7 podcast to get a preview of what we can expect from a trip to Gillingham on Saturday. And finally, we get a welcome update from our friends at Rogerstone AFC Women on their recent progress. For those of you planning on attending Thursday's Trust meeting, you can register online. No payment is required - once you've entered your details, you just need to add your membership number (as shown in your Trust Membership account on the website or in the e-mail inviting you to the meeting). If you're heading to Gillingham and fancy doing us a match report, drop us a line via your social media platform of choice. | 1/5/26 | ![]() #259: Single-header | Sunday's postponement of Newport County vs Tranmere threw into disarray our podcast release plan for a review of the New Year week double-header! But we wanted to make the transition back to work on Monday easier for you, so here's a short pod anyway. Ed speaks to 1912 Exiles debutants Logan and Fab to get their review of the New Year's Day loss to Bromley, and then the panel consider County's transfer business so far and where the biggest gaps remain.Happy New Year to all listeners. | 12/30/25 | ![]() #258: Ian Street & the Electric Gilets (Crewe @ Home) | Ian Street graces the south in a feature length match-day diary with Ed, Rhys & Jack for his first home game of the season. After today's performance, we are now negotiating with 1912 Exiles commercial to subsidise more visits as the official club's good luck charm! Come with us on a journey of bewilderment and bovril spice on-scene at Rodney Parade as we remember that winning feeling, not felt since March. As always, do contact us via your social media platform of choice and give us your thoughts. | 12/23/25 | ![]() #257: Christmas Special | Ian, Rhys, Alfie & Ed assembled for a festive recording, seeking to fulfil their promise of an episode free from County-related misery and to bring some light relief to a traumatic season. Over the course of an hour, they discuss: what Christmas presents you'd buy for past Newport County players; quirky stories about football at Christmas; what we'd do if we were the ghosts of Christmas past / present / future; the best loan players or most under-rated players we've seen in a County shirt - oh, and then Rhys finishes things off with an anagram quiz, only for us to realise most of them were wrong...We'd welcome your thoughts, as always, so do contact us via your social media platform of choice. | 12/15/25 | ![]() #256: The elephant in the room | A long-overdue episode, this one, as we explore Newport County's ownership, the potential loss of league status, and the current existential crisis at NP19.Ian is in the chair, and is joined by Rhys and Ed. The gang briefly discuss the Crewe and Fleetwood games, but then turn our attention to matters off the pitch. With a crunch fan forum meeting taking place next Wednesday, we ask what chairman Huw Jenkins needs to say and do, what the next six weeks may mean for the club's medium-term future, and what needs to change culturally to shift the dial at the club from gloom to joy. We'd welcome your thoughts, as always, so do contact us via your social media platform of choice. | 12/8/25 | ![]() #255: The nadir? | After a shambolic TV broadcast this week which made the FIFA World Cup draw (complete with Rio Ferdinand-Gianni Infantino comedy skits and Wayne Gretzky attempting to pronounce “North Macedonia”) look like a polished, professional affair, Jamie attempts to unpack Newport County’s humbling in the FA Cup away to Borehamwood. You may wish to cheer yourself up by listening to some Radiohead, or even better, Ed’s chat with the Crewe pod The Railwaymen ahead of our away game on Wednesday. | 11/23/25 | ![]() #253: Fuchs' around, find out! | A pod of two halves for you again, in what has been a momentous week for Newport County. In Part 1, Ed asks Jamie for his initial reaction to County's new manager announcement, and we also rifle through listeners' reactions to the appointment of Christian Fuchs. Then, in Part 2, Ed reports from an ultimately dispiriting loss at Oldham, catching up along the way with Ollie, Mark, Jane & Silvers. Whilst being as positive as they can about what the new manager might bring, there's also no sugar-coating just how desperate things look for a County side rooted to the bottom of the Fourth Division, and now five points from safety. We'd welcome your thoughts, as always, so do contact us via your social media platform of choice.
