A mouse devises a plan to protect her children from a cunning cat.
काचित् मूषिका पत्या सह ग्रामे न्यवसत् । कश्चन धूर्तः बिडालः काननात् आगत्य तस्याः शिशून् भक्षयति स्म । अनेन दुःखिता मूषिका इदं गृहं परित्यज्य अन्यत्र गच्छामः इति पतिम् अवदत् । किन्तु सः मूषकः पत्नीं कष्टेन समाधाय एतस्याः समस्यायाः निवारणाय कमपि उपायं चिन्तयाम इति अवदत् । सः एकम् उपायं कृत्वा तस्य दुष्टबिडालस्य निग्रहम् अकरोत् । सर्वे मूषकाः प्रसन्नाः अभवन् । (“केन्द्रीयसंस्कृतविश्वविद्यालयस्य अष्टादशीयोजनान्तर्गततया एतासां कथानां ध्वनिप्रक्षेपणं क्रियते”) A certain mouse lived in a village with her husband. A cunning cat came from the forest and ate her children. Distressed, the mouse told her husband, “Let us leave this house and go elsewhere.” But the husband consoled her and said, “I will think of some way to solve this problem.” He devised a plan and subdued the wicked cat. All the mice became happy.
