About this episode

The episode narrates how King Vikramasinha, guided by his minister, learns to appreciate the hidden artistry of farmers and supports their welfare.

King Vikramasinha was a patron of the arts. Because he paid little attention to the welfare of his people, the minister was troubled and constantly thought of guiding the king toward wisdom. By a clever plan, he took the king to the fields and said, “These farmers are, in a hidden way, artists too. They deserve support.” The king then had reservoirs, wells, and ponds built throughout the villages. All the people were pleased, and they praised the minister’s cleverness and wisdom.
