कदाचित् वेषान्तरं धृत्वा अटितवतः राज्ञः अश्वशकटस्य नेमिः चक्रात् पृथक् अभवत् । यदा लोहकारम् अन्विष्यन् गच्छति राजा तदा अद्य विरामदिनं, सहायकः नास्ति इति अवद्त् लोहकारः । अतः साहाय्यार्थं राजा एव भस्रिकादण्डचालनम् अङ्गीकृतवान् । जीवने ऐदम्प्राथम्येन श्रमः कृतः, श्रमस्य आनन्दः च ज्ञातः राज्ञा । श्रमस्य महत्त्वं बोधितवते लोहकाराय राजा गुरुदक्षिणारूपेण षट् सुवर्णनाणकानि दत्त्वा ततः निर्गतः । (“केन्द्रीयसंस्कृतविश्वविद्यालयस्य अष्टादशीयोजनान्तर्गततया एतासां कथानां ध्वनिप्रक्षेपणं क्रियते”) Once, while wandering in disguise, a king’s chariot wheel broke. Seeking a blacksmith, the king was told it was a holiday and no assistants were available. To help, the king himself worked the bellows. Through this, he personally experienced the value and joy of labor. Realizing its importance, the king rewarded the blacksmith with six gold coins as a teacher’s fee and departed.
