Algorithmically Incorrect Hockey

Sean is reading a book. Robert remembers he has the same book like two hours later. The show opens with a playing card quiz (4:00), and Robert forgets who Patrick Roy is. The guys then discuss Dylan Larkin, Jason Robertson, and what Buffalo might do next. Cam Robinson of Elite Prospects joins the show (30:45) live from Buffalo, where he's prepping for the NHL Draft. Cam discusses why Chicago made the Bowen Byram trade, the lack of energy at the decentralized draft, what San Jose's grand plan might be, and how his son's mock draft is getting national attention. Alex Tuch then gets signed and traded to Washington during the show (47:30), and the guys discuss how the disappearing eight-year deal is a unique asset some teams still hold. Next, Stephen Meserve of 100 Degree Hockey joins the show (53:40) to discuss the proposed NHL expansion to Houston or Austin. Meserve and company then muse about everything from the HEB real estate plan to whether Austin or Houston is the better fit for the NHL, and why. They also discuss an outdoor game at Kyle Field, San Antonio's own hockey history, and why the Henderson Silver Knights should wear Rampage jerseys next February.

Robert and Sean have recorded a special treat: A bonus episode featuring NHL Network's Jason Demers! Demers and the guys discuss some details the former NHL defenseman has noticed about an entertaining Stanley Cup Final, as well as how he moved from being an NHL player to an NHL media member. Demers also shares some stories from his days playing with Brent Burns and Joe Pavelski, how he went from Dallas to Florida to Arizona, and why he has some concerns about the way the Dylan Larkin saga is unfolding.Finally, Demers answers some questions from the guys about his international career, winning the Spengler Cup, and his days playing in Russia and Finland, as well as the most cursed Christmas video of all time.

Sean is back in the USA. Robert's internet takes the week off.First, (6:30) Sean provides an update on his Fast & Furious progress. This devolves into a discussion about Star Wars before touching on the Dallas Stars' plans to move to Plano in 2031 (15:30).Seattle Kraken prospect Blake Fiddler joins the show (27:20) to talk about playing for the Edmonton Oil Kings in the WHL, playing for Team USA at the World Championships, and what it was like to grow up playing hockey in Dallas.The show wraps up (51:14) with a discussion about the growing distinction between the respective power of the GM and President roles in places like Colorado and Vancouver.

Robert remembers the name of the show. Sean grits his teeth while praising the Arsenal Football Club. First, (5:30) the guys talk a bit more about Jason Robertson, Kirill Kaprizov, and how contract comps work in different markets. We then move on (20:31) to the fallout from Vegas and John Tortorella's whoospadoodle. Next, AI Hockey welcomes (37:10) Glenn Hefferan, President and Commissioner of the USHL to talk the Clark Cup Final, his relationship with the commissioners of the CHL, how the USHL develops both players and officials, and what makes a league the right one to be in for players on a college hockey path. Robert and Sean wrap up (1:21:05) by talking about Bruce Cassidy, Kelly McCrimmon, and how a organization's culture shows up in all the different choices it makes.

Sean drives to the top of a parking garage. Robert gets to hear an Alex Ovechkin story. First (11:20), the one-and-only Bruce Boudreau joins the show to talk about the award named after him, how his AHL career ended, comparing tough playoff goalie decisions, the Russian Machine, and how Boudreau liked to mess with reporters. Sean and Robert then (57:45) discuss the tricky parts of press conferences, dignity and dialogue, as well as the PWHL announcement in Detroit. Finally, (1:30:20) Troy Bodie of the Seattle Kraken and the GM of the Coachella Valley Firebirds joins the show to talk about launching a new AHL team in the desert, playing for Randy Carlyle, why he decided to retire at 30, and some Memorial Cup memories from his days in Kelowna.

Sean and Robert kick the show off by talking about production improvements they can make after last week. Robert's wifi then decides to be funny by abandoning the segment, substantially improving its listenability.
