All Access Star Trek - A TrekMovie.com Podcast

Anthony and Laurie discuss the latest interview with the filmmakers writing the next (not-yet-greenlit) Star Trek movie, list some of the events and promotions around Star Trek’s upcoming 60th anniversary (next week!), and talk about what to expect at New York Comic Con. Then they review this week’s episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, “Like Chronitons Through the Hourglass,” with a lot of discussion about the choice of soap opera as genre, the tone of genres in general, and what really worked in the episode outside of that, as well as guest stars Rhys Darby and Deidre Hall. They wrap up with a reminder to check out Noah Wyle and The Pitt cast reading “The Man Trap” and Michelle Hurd on the Dropping Names with Brent and Jonny podcast. Look for a supplemental episode this weekend featuring Laurie’s interview with writers Dana Horgan & Bill Wolkoff and director Anna Dokoza.

Tony is out this week, so Laurie and guest co-host Dr. Ann Marie Segal (The 7th Rule, Creation Entertainment) take on the puppet episode! They start with a chat about Star Trek Las Vegas, then jump into their review of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds‘ “Level-Five Transporter Accident,” which they both found surprisingly enjoyable. They also listen to Laurie’s interview with enthusiastic guest stars Joe Lo Truglio and Rachael Harris.

In this supplemental episode, Tony interviews Martin Quinn (Scotty) and Laurie interviews Dave Foley (Dendru) about the latest Star Trek: Strange New Worlds episode, “Human Best Friend.”

This is a special bonus episode for both the TrekMovie podcasts: All Access Star Trek and Shuttle Pod. This is a live recording of the TrekMovie “Star Trek Status Report 2026” panel from Creation’s Trek to Vegas convention in Las Vegas, recorded on the opening day of the convention, Wednesday August 5. On the panel were TrekMovie founder Anthony Pascale along with his All Access Star Trek co-host Laurie Ulster, and Shuttle Pod co-hosts Matt Wright and Brian Drew, all TrekMovie.com editors. We had a spirited discussion about how Star Trek is at a pivot point, with things appearing to wind down while there are some some signs of optimism for the future. There were some interesting comments and questions from audience members as well. A regular episode of the All Access Star Trek podcast will post on Friday, with a review of SNW 403, followed by a supplemental featuring interviews with Scotty actor Martin Quinn and an exciting guest star from episode 403. Look for that supplemental to drop on Saturday.

Anthony and Laurie kick things off with a business update about the Paramount/WB merger, then dive into the news that came out of San Diego Comic-Con on Starfleet Academy, Sprouts, Strange New Worlds, and the movie being written by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, as well as discussions about the future of the franchise as a whole. They also give a quick STLV preview and talk about their new collaboration with the SyFy Sistas. After that, they review episode 402 of Strange New Worlds, “The Griffin Incident,” looking at visuals, storytelling, character development, and the genre swing. They wrap up with their bits of the week: Kumail Nanjiani talking about his love for Trek, and a great story about TNG fan Sammy Davis Jr. on Dropping Names with Brent and Jonny.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is back and so are Anthony and Laurie! They review the season 4 premiere, “Valles Marineris,” which is a good old-fashioned Star Trek story with new character arcs beginning and impressive visual effects. Come back tomorrow for their interview with SNW producing director Chris Fisher to talk about his work on the season premiere and the entire series, as well as his upcoming book A Producer’s Guide to Virtual Production, which comes out next month.
