Honestly, it is a happy ending. It’s easy to recognize when you aren’t having fun and try to figure out a way to make it better. The DM being stubborn and refusing to see how the changes to the games system would kill any enjoyment for playing a caster is wild. Who would enjoy taking a turn just to fail repeatedly?
