| 6/19/26 | 295: The Mandalorian with Steve | It’s Summer and the At The Flicks team are avoiding the heat / rain by going as often to the cinema as they can! On one of these trips, the team watched the first Star Wars film for 7 years – The Mandalorian and Grogu. This spin off from the Disney+ TV series (ok the plot outline was originally designed for season 4), has plenty of action, horrific creatures and the lovable baby Yoda or as he is better known, Grogu. They were so impressed they felt they had to talk about it. Joining Jeff and Graham for this pop-up review show is Gloucestershire reporter and Star Wars enthusiast Steve Knibbs. Being a big fan of the Star Wars universe, Steve can bring to light the nuances that our two regulars often miss (not difficult at their respective ages). However, before we talk Star Wars, Steve was asked about another event that is watched around the world – his reporting on the famous Gloucester Cheese Rolling which recently took place on Cooper’s Hill. To find out Steve’s thoughts on this landmark event and of course The Mandalorian feature film, you will have to check out this current episode. We believe this is worth your time – a half hour well spent in great company. More Summer reviews will follow when we do our usual wrap up show of the season with Phil The Bear. Expect fireworks in that one as I am sure Jeff and Phil will have different opinions on what they watch. Until then, maybe we will see you At The Flicks this Summer? Bye for now. | — | ||||||

| 12/15/25 | 284: Future Bond with Niall | Compliments of the season to you from the At The Flicks crew. If you are like us, then you will be watching at least one James Bond film this Christmas. Goldfinger, You Only Live Twice and Live And Let Die are choices very popular with this team. All classics. However, with James Bond somewhat cold at present and Amazon seemingly muddling through with the franchise, we have to ask the question – is the age of James Bond as we know it, over? And that is the subject of the At The Flicks Christmas lecture for this year. It’s a weighty subject, so we have to call on an expert to help address this question. Bond fan Niall Browne from Movies In Focus joins Jeff and Graham to discuss how did we get here and Amazon’s current handling of the James Bond legacy (clue, it’s not off to a good start). Of course, a screenwriter and director have been allocated to a new Bond project. We talk about both and assess if they are the right people for the job or is Amazon “front loading” with talent over ideas? Being life long James Bond aficionados, we also offer some advice on what could or should be next for the superspy – that is, we talk about what we would like to see. Also, we consider the right attributes for the next actor to play James Bond, and of course, like everyone else, we throw in some names. Some of which may be controversial. So, before you settle down with your Christmas Pud (British reference there) to watch Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan or Daniel Craig, why not give us a listen? And if you have ideas about Bond which are not being talked about, please let us know for a possible future follow up show as I am sure the James Bond story is going to change a lot during 2026. Until then, have a great Christmas. We will be back at year’s end to share our top films of the year with you. Links Goldfinger Trailer | — | ||||||
