Total organic material testing (OM246) can be used to calibrate the amount of sand and cultivation required to produce high performance putting surfaces. Chris Tritabaugh and I discussed the most recent results from tests conducted at Hazeltine National Golf Club.

Carl is a competitive golfer and a turfgrass researcher. We had a long conversation about the topic of playability of surfaces. What is it, how is it measured, can it be measured, and how might it be managed.

Doug Soldat joined me to discuss tissue tests for turfgrass, and how we might make use of them (or not) to make decisions about fertilizer.

Larry Stowell joined me to discuss the temperature-based turfgrass growth potential --- where it comes from and how it is used. We also discussed a bit about MLSN and the interaction of GP with MLSN.

Tom Cook led the turfgrass program at Oregon State University for 31 years and was my professor for many turfgrass classes when I was a student there in the 1990s. Tom studies what grows in lawns, and how the starting conditions, and the management practices, influence what the lawn turns out to be sometime in the future. We discuss this, and golf course turf, in this episode.
