About this episode
Rían Cahill discusses the challenges and resilience of Irish dancers in creating their own spaces amidst the decline of nightclubs in Ireland.
Irelands nightlife is crying out for help. With the constant closure of nightclubs all around the country, Irish dancers are now taking it upon themselves to create their own spaces to dance. After the pandemic, massive attention was given to the closure Irish club culture and its rapid decline. Although the spaces that this culture typically call home are slowly dwindling, the culture hasn’t halted. Many dancers have decided to not let their situation dictate when or where they can dance, creating their own dancefloors in unconventional spaces.
