I met Mehmet at a TEC Canada Emerging Leaders session where I was speaking, and knew that there was something special about him. Born in Iskenerin, Turkey, moved to Brooklyn NY at the age of 7, with no english, totally new culture, and a world of unknowns, Mehmet found a way. His family moved to Canada, and that is where he resides. He leads by example, is always the first to be kind, and left me with the line, you only lose when you give up. Self proclaimed data nerd, marketing genius, and all around great guy. Alex is the founder of Click Makers, and MeasureBit. Alex was born in the Ukraine. Went to university in Moscow, and had various jobs before moving to Canada. His mother and father were both teachers, and as you will discover, Alex has become a life long learner. Alex measures his companies success by how many clients he can kick out of the nest so that they can fly on their own. He believes that most of the world’s problems can be solved if we just sat down and communicated. Alex gets to better the pond by making other companies successful.

Beginning her journey in the USA, but born in Nuremburg Germany, Kathleen is the genius behind Second 50 Financial. Her father, a very successful dentist had Kathleen growing up wanting for nothing. Then, a health issue with her father changed everything, and she realized that there was a need for people needing help in the second half of their lives. Kathleen was on a journey to go into dentistry herself, but discovered that was not her destiny, and found herself in financial services. She helps to become financially confident, finding opportunities for expansion, and creates a community to discover what gets people up in the morning, and to take action. She has created the second 50 movement, and in turn is creating ripples to better the pond. Thank you Kathleen.

Marion Pulse and Latoya Faustin of She Built This City. The two women are absolute powerhouses, and are not just creating ripples, but are making waves. Both were raised by single moms, learned struggle and resilience, stayed determined and focused, and thankfully were brought together to create She Built This City. Latoya’s mom had the saying, what’s taught or what’s caught.  Latoya was taught a lot, but what she caught was the passion and commitment to help others and lead with love. Marion learned resilience, but what she caught was that no matter what happens, everything will always turn out ok. The team of she built this city is all about getting women in the trades and helping them succeed.  Thank you Marion and Latoya for helping to build a better pond.

A self proclaimed misfit, Joop see's the strengths in people versus their weakness or dysfunction. From across the pond in North Holland, he has not only helped in his own backyard, but also in South Africa and the Philippines. Nope understands that it costs nothing to be kind, and to have gratitude to what we already have. Nope is always creating ripples in the pond, which have gone well beyond the pebble he threw in.

Just be wild!!  Candyce lives her life as it is a gift.  Full of adventure, curiosity and drive, she started tarted working at the age of 13, and never stopped.  She now runs 3 organizations, and is a woman to be reckoned with.  Going through a major trauma and having an acquired brain injury, Candyce has used this as fuel to do well for others.  Candyce exemplifies what we can all do to better the pond.  Thank you Candyce!!!

Heather Murphy, the surrogate mother of peoples dreams. Growing up in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, she learned the richness of family, community, creativity, and play.  Heather travelled the world,  became the first female in Canada to be on the Forbe's Coaches Council, and started her own business Authentically, and she never stops.  Heather contribution to #betterthepond is helping women in Rwanda get skills and  financial backing to become business owners, and always lighting up a room when she walks in.  Thank you Heather, you were a great guest.  This is one worth listening to!
