| 5/18/26 | #40-- 5.18.26-- “The Cafeteria Plan" | In Episode #40, we offer some teacher quick takes on that universal part of everyone’s school experience: lunch in the cafeteria. Ms. Compton, Mr. Rose and your host spent some time in the studio reminiscing over our own histories with school cafeterias of our pasts, and then we recently spent a lunch period gathered at one of round tables in the Borah Cafeteria, paid our 5 dollars and 10 cents, gobbled down our crispy chicken salads, and contemplated meal time at this school. and you’ll get to hear all about those experiences. You’ll also hear Mr. Rose’s Prep Period Cold Call with Borah’s Food Service Manager, Mrs. Chipman, who offers some fascinating insights on the daily routine of feeding Borah’s students. You’ll also find out that once all the kids are gone and tables wiped off, Borah’s cafeteria becomes a cool venue for other events here at the school Thanks for listening! | 4/6/24 | ![]() #31 --4.6.24--"I'm on the [Pridecast] thinkin' 'bout the government" | The 7th season of the Borah Pridecast has been a "restructuring" year. Our audio expert, Mr. Wray, did what a lot of teachers hope to do: he retired. So, we've been trying to get some episodes done while learning the editing ropes; and it's been a tough year, but we've finally found the "on air" button on the this thing, so here comes Episode #31! In this sit down interview with Borah U.S. Government teacher Korrin Rue, listeners get a taste of what it's like to teach high school government classes in the midst of the current political climate in this country (hint: it's a little awkward). This is an insightful, compelling, and honest look at today's politics in the high school classroom. These are Borah voices. | — | ||||||
| 10/28/23 | Season 7 is coming! | The Pridecast is set to go for Season 7 and the podcast crew is eager to drop some episodes. Stay tuned, too, for the 2nd Season of Borah Voices, the completely student generated podcast from Borah High School. It's going to be a great year! These are Borah voices. | — | ||||||
| 4/26/23 | #30 Promcast Redux 4.26.23 : Episode #7 -- The Grand March, 5 years later | Pin on your boutonnieres, and tighten your cummerbunds! This episode dropped back in April of 2018 -- before COVID ruined the high school prom. A little romcom, a little tragicomedy as Borah teachers offer a nostalgic look back at their own high school prom nights. Hattie Smith (2018 grad) gives her"Hattie Minute" -- and her two cents -- about student "promposals," and Ms. Hughes offers student listeners some prom etiquette advice. These are Borah voices! | — | ||||||
| 4/4/23 | ![]() Borah Voices S1 E3 4.4.23: "It's Springtime and the Food Trucks are in Full Bloom" | Episode #3 finds the podcast team sliding into the 4th quarter with the slight, exciting twinge of summer break on the horizon. We chat up students standing in line for the Friday Food Trucks; seniors share their graduation plans, the podcast crew introduce themselves. We also reached into the Borah Pridecast archives to retrieve Mr. Rose's Prep Period Cold Call with Mrs. Atkins, and a short excerpt of Rueben's interview with fiction, film criticism and former comedy writer for The Onion, Fran Hoepfner. Give it a listen! And don't forget to smash that "subscribe" button! These are Borah Voices. | — | ||||||
| 1/16/23 | ![]() Borah Voices S1 E2 1.16.23: "Winter: it's debatable" | The winter episode of Borah Voices features interviews with Borah Debate students, whacky and weird holiday gifts and traditions; Mr. Samano talks up the Borah Snow Team. There's a movie review in the mix, as well as an interview with the Youth Programs Coordinator at the Boise Brick House full of information about teen and family mental health options. Give a listen and don't forget to subscribe! These are Borah Voices | — | ||||||
| 12/20/22 | ![]() Borah Voices S1 E1 12.20.22: "Cross Country, Carnival, and Comic Books" | Welcome to Episode 1 of Borah Voices -- A sister podcast of the Borah Pridecast and the first podcast in the Boise School District (and probably the state of Idaho) produced, recorded, and edited solely and completely by students. Your hosts for this episode, Camille, Tommy, and Scarlett, bring listeners on a Cross Country team bus trip, then record "Man-on-the-street" style among the throng of Borah students at this year's Homecoming Carnival. Then it's off to the Team HOME Walk for Huntington's Disease , and finally an interview with comic book artist, author and Borah High alum, Terry Blas. Thanks for listening! Subscribe! These are (and this is) Borah Voices! | — | ||||||
| 11/18/22 | ![]() #29 -- 11.18.22 -- Borah Voices: A New Hope | Welcome to Season 6 of the Pridecast. This season opener introduces a new podcast in the Pridecast family. "Borah Voices" is totally student-produced and hosted, offering a focused look at student life at Borah High School. Senior Co-hosts Carlos and Miles and their bevy of student correspondents report in on the first semester happenings at Borah High School. Interviews, movie reviews, and student-on-the-street Homecoming questions. These are Borah voices. | — | ||||||
| 10/5/21 | #26 -- 10.5.21 -- Giving it the Ole College Try | Well, it's October at Borah (it's October everywhere, probably), and our seniors are starting to get the College itch. Time to start thinking FAFSA, letters of rec requests(we hear plying a certain English teacher with a bottle or two of strawberry milk will greatly improve that recommendation letter!), and making that list of potential schools. In this episode, Ethan chats up Borah's College and Career counselor, Jenni Kimball, and Santiago sits down with the College of Western Idaho's Latinx Student Services Coordinator, Javier Garcia. Some great advice in this episode for any students thinking about their future after high school. These are Borah Voices! | — | ||||||
| 9/16/21 | Season 5 Teaser | Here comes season 5 of the Borah Pridecast! We have new hosts, new segments, and, just like Episode 4 of Star Wars: A New Hope. What is it? You'll have to subscribe to find out! These are Borah Voices. | — | ||||||
| 5/14/21 | #25-- 5.14.21 -- Jad Abumrad: "The Interview" | On Saturday, February 1, 2020 Jad Abumrad, host of Radio Lab and Dolly Parton’s America podcast series, visited the Borah High School library in Boise. For over an hour, in a library jammed with eager students, Jad graciously sat for an interview with Borah Pridecast student host, Ellie Smith (graduating class of 2020!). A few weeks later, the COVID-19 pandemic surged, and the school year went virtual; the Pridecast studio was shuttered for the next 14 months. So, for Episode #25, the Pridecast team offers its listeners that full interview – made possible with some generous help from the The Cabin, Idaho’s literary arts nonprofit organization, and the podcast team for Boise State Public Radio News’ “You Know the Place” podcast. Thanks for listening. These are Borah Voices! | — | ||||||
| 5/13/21 | Teaser -- Episode #25 | After 10 months out of the studio at Borah High School, the Borah Pridecast team is back! In February of 2020, Jad Abumrad -- host of Radio Lab and Dolly Parton's America -- stopped by Borah to meet and talk to our Podcast club. Our (now graduated) Ellie Smith interviewed Jad for over an hour, and you will get to hear that full interview when Episode #25 of the Borah Pridecast drops in a day or two. Give it a listen! THESE ARE BORAH VOICES! | — | ||||||
| 5/7/20 | #24-- 5.7.20- Wake up, game, do the homework, and it's that forever | School in the time of Coronavirus. We interview some students about their day-to-day lives during the pandemic. Borah's social worker, Becky Woodland walks us through the help available to students during this closure -- plus some "Price is Right" memories on the Pandemic Period Cold Call. And Borah staff and students look toward a different kind of graduation this year. From bedrooms and back porches, these are Borah voices. | — | ||||||
