About this episode
In this episode, Aine interviews Orla Kearney, a Sustainability Engineer, about her career and insights into structural sustainability.
Howdy All, Happy to say the 20th episode of Carbon climates is officially here. I had the pleasure of speaking with Orla Kearney, a Sustainability Engineer at ARUP, and it was an absolute honor. Orla shared an insightful overview of her career journey, starting from her role at a local newspaper's picture desk to studying civil engineering at Trinity College Dublin. She also discussed how she landed an industrial placement with ARUP, which led to her becoming a Graduate Structural Engineer. In this episode, Orla emphasizes the importance of addressing embodied carbon and provides valuable insights into Life Cycle Analysis assessments. In addition to her work at ARUP, Orla is a former head of Struct IE NI & Ireland and currently serves on the Engineers Ireland committee. She's also a STEM ambassador and advocates for equal representation in the engineering field. Links below to items talked about in todays episode: ISE102-00 1..4 STEM Ambassadors
