The message challenges our suburban comfort-seeking mindset that assumes any discomfort means something is wrong. Instead, we're invited to embrace what's called the joy tunnel—those seasons of trial that James 1 describes when we're told to consider it pure joy when we face trials of many kinds. The question isn't whether we'll face refinement, but how we'll respond to it.
