This movie means a lot to Shawn. Yes, we know it's not a great movie, but it's the first film his dad took him to see in the theaters and he cherrish's the memory. And also, it's pronouced Data! 2019's Jojo Rabbitt A young German boy in the Hitler Youth, whose hero and imaginary friend is the country's dictator, is shocked to discover that his mother is hiding a Jewish girl in their home. We had so much fun with this film. It's smart, it's clever and heartfelt. You will cry at the end. This is a much watch! 2007's Ghost Town the Movie Dean Teaster's 'Ghost Town The Movie', is a unique "Eastern" Western. It is N.C. native Dean Teaster's tribute to his father Robert Doyle Teaster and "Ghost Town In The Sky" theme park. This is a film that Shawn worked on as a boom operator in his film days. Yes, this movie isn't very good. Yes, the sound is bad, the acting is bad, the story is bad and the writing is bad. 1995's Heavyweights Plump kids are lured into joining a posh fat camp with the promise of quick weight loss and good times, only to find that it is a woodland hellhole run by a psycho ex-fitness instructor. This fun Disney film brought back lots of nostalgia for the both of us. Andrew loves this film and watches it often, not the case for Shawn. Does it hold up? Is Ben Stiller a good bad guy? 1993's The Sandlot In the summer of 1962, a new kid in town is taken under the wing of a young baseball prodigy and his rowdy team, resulting in many adventures. The first of our month long series of Summer Break Movies. The Sandlot is a fun and nostalgic film for Andrew and Shawn. 1980's Battle Beyond the Stars A farm boy recruits a band of outlaws to save the planet Akir from forces that threaten to wipe them out from the face of the universe. A battle stretching beyond the stars begins here. This low budget sci fi version of Seven Samurai is, well, a low budget version of that classic movie. It has a wide range of characters and locations. The ships look terrible and the acting is hilarous. The film score is amazing and led James Horner to land the Wrath of Khan film, so we can be thankful for that. 2019's Pokemon: Detective Pikachu In a world where people collect Pokémon to do battle, a boy comes across an intelligent talking Pikachu who seeks to be a detective. We wrap up family movie night month with this fun buddy cop film, starring Ryran Reynolds and Justice Smith. This film has it's moments and it's pretty fun and silly and also kinda dumb.
