The fourth article comes from Legal future and examines an accountant who has been reprimanded by the SRA for failing to report his client, a Conveyancing firm, for moving clients monies offshore. The fifth article comes from the BBC and looks at a Government backed loan scheme designed to help small businesses which is nearly ready and launching from Royal Bank of Scotland. The sixth article from the Daily Mail talks about a new loyalty scheme by big shopping brands which aims to help their customers pay off their mortgages early. The Daily Mail also bring us the seventh article which looks at mortgage companies closing any of their products which don't require larger deposits thus protecting themselves from any short term fall in house prices. Our eighth article from the Daily Telegraph pay wall looks at possible effects home working may have on long term house price trends in suburban and inner city areas. The ninth article brought to us by the Evening Standard Homes and Property section looks at how estate agents in London are already seeing falls in property prices and difficulties showing homes to prospective buyers. In today's podcast the Law Society Gazette reports on the SRA having a pragmatic approach to regulating Conveyancing Law firms during the Coronavirus outbreak. The next article which is also from the Law Society Gazette examines a plea by Junior Lawyers to allow examinations to go ahead remotely during the virus lockdown. The last article brought to you by the Law Society Gazette looks at a week which saw 5 non-Solicitors banned for misconduct from regulated Law firms. The SRA itself brings us the next article where they set out their priorities for the next 3 years as decided by surveys they have conducted in and around the Legal profession.  Looking at the 3 key areas of standards, technology and emerging opportunities. The following article is not specifically targeted at the Legal profession but instead examines what support is available for businesses which are having to cease trading during the lockdown.  It comes from the BBC. The Daily Mail reports that estate agents are unhappy with the package offered to them by online giant Rightmove in light of the restrictions caused by the viral outbreak.  Rightmove have offered a 75% discount for 4 months, whereas some agents would prefer 3 months completely unpaid. A chilling prediction from the Daily Mail next where experts predict a drop of up to 20% in the housing market caused by, you guessed it, Coronavirus.  The already sluggish market may face further challenges. A warning now from the same publication which advises people not to cancel their mortgage payments until they have agreed this with their mortgage company.  The mortgage companies are assessing claims on a case by case basis so it is not automatically guaranteed and may affect your credit rating. Our first article from the Guardian looks at a branch of Haart estate agents whose manager laid off his entire team in anticipation of the lockdown despite advice to the contrary from the government. In another first we look at a publication previously unknown to us, the Legal Cheek.  It examines the same issue as a previous Law Society article in this issue namely allowing Junior Lawyers to take their exams during the outbreak.  But we thought we would mention the publication in case you were not aware of it. Legal futures brings us the story of the new appointee as chair of the Legal Ombudsman.  She gets a hefty £52,500 for only 60 days work a year which is equivalent of £300,000 full time.  She also has six other roles.  How does she fit it all in? Finally on a lighter note we look at a reasonably priced beautiful thatched cottage in Salisbury from Country Life magazine.  It is surrounded by a beautifully well maintained garden with its own pond and benches. Another article by the Law Society Gazette looks at a Solicitor who has been struck off for paying nearly £5,000 of a client's funds directly into their personal bank account. Moving on to the BBC we look at some lenders who have given their customers who are affected by Coronavirus a repayment holiday on a case by case basis. Another article from the BBC examines a survey of First time buyers and what they see as the best ways the government can help them to get onto the property ladder. Coronavirus also raises its ugly head in the next article brought to you by the Daily Mail.  The article shows how the housing market is taking a hit since its recent highs after the election victory by the Conservative government. It examines historical house price changes linked to average income and warns of the dangers of the Coronavirus. The next article, also by the Daily Mail, examines mortgage prisoners who have been locked into mortgages with unregulated mortgage providers since the 2008 banking crisis.  The government are forming a working group to try to address the problem and allow these prisoners to move their mortgage to newer, lower cost packages.  They are urging banks not to repossess houses where the occupants are in this predicament. First Time buyer magazine tells us about a new housing estate being built in Milton Keynes.  The prices seem high to be aimed at young families or first time buyers but Milton Keynes would be a good spot to lay down roots.  The housing estate has good local amenities. Legal future brings us story of a new mega merger between two top law firms in the South East creating a new Law Firm with a turnover of £40 million putting it in the top 100 firms in the UK. Finally on a lighter note we look at a beautiful seven bedroom home in the South Downs from Country Life magazine.  It comes with its own Bishop's palace in the back garden. In this podcast we explore a report by the Law Society Gazette reports that active Conveyancing firms are at a record low having dropped from over 4000 to high 3000. We examine a Solicitors Regulation Authority news report that they were ranked in a poll by Stonewall as one of the top LGBT inclusive employers in Britain. Then during a general roundup of other Property related news we dive into several other news sources.  First a video uploaded by the BBC which examines middle aged people who have always rented rather than owned their own home. Then we move onto 3 different articles by The Daily Mail.  The first also examines middle aged renters but this time it is different because they previously owned their own home but chose to move into rental accommodation after their children left home to give themselves more flexibility over where they can work. The second article shows that after a period of stagnation house price inflation has started to increase again.  Although it is still below regular levels at only 3% and London is lagging behind the rest of the country. The third article shows that Buy-to-Let landlords have been hit hard by George Osbourne's changes to capital gains tax rules. On a lighter side we also check Country Life magazine to look at high end property listings.
