| 11/3/25 | ![]() Heartscore, Stricknice, Bitzone, Wou-Wou & The Wormling, and the Couch King - The Shrike Pt. 4 | Wow, this is it, the final song I will be posting for the untitled album Stricknice, Bitzone, Wou-Wou & the Wormling and I have been working on! We posted the first song, “Ghosting Out,” from this set on January 4, 2021. I started this set of 12 songs in 2020, during the pandemic, using demo tracks that Wou-Wou graciously allowed me to use. I can’t, yet totally can, believe that it took 5 years to finish and finally post all the songs. I am still not sure if all 12 songs will be included in the album since the total run time is about 43 minutes and I like albums to be a little closer to 30 minutes. We still also need to decide on the track sequence. Eventually the album will be posted the album on Bandcamp for free. I have written it many times before and I will write it again, it has been an immense pleasure and honor and blast to work with Sticknice, Bitzone, and Wou-Wou on this set of songs. I feel so lucky to have had this opportunity. | 7/10/25 | ![]() Russell Sinfield and the Couch King -I Like To Sample Old Drums | I started making this piece with the intention of it being a set of songs that could stand on their own as well as being an open collaboration, but then it took on a life of its own, and things just got out of hand from there, lol! But I still managed to control myself and didn’t add too many samples though, haha! I was listening to 1985 and 1986 hip hop singles when making this so…. You can download this for free as well as some of the unmixed stems on Bandcamp. The lyrics can also be found on Bandcamp since SC didn’t provide enough space in the song info. I reached my description limit! Feel free to treat it as an open collaboration if you like. The song list, BPMs, and time signatures are listed below. | 5/7/25 | ![]() Bitzone, RS Frawstakwa & the Couch King - Break Down The Bounce | I always wanted to make a sonic companion to the last song Bitzone, Frawstakwa, and I made together, “What Difference Does It Make.” I finally got my chance. This one came together real fast. Bitzone sent me a raw beat, I asked Frawstakwa to kick it off, and then I made some arrangement adjustments and laid down my lyrics and vocals based on Frawstakwa’s. Bitzone then finished it up and bada-boom, gotta move, gotta shake! Massive thanks to Frawstakwa for bringing the fresh ideas and original verse and chorus vocals. And big thanks to Bitzone for always make the tracks more vivid than I could imagine. May there always be at least a little time to bounce in your week! | 6/11/24 | ![]() Mayor of Donutville, Stricknice, Bitzone, Wou-Wou & CKP - Something To Believe In | This is the latest song from the album Wou-Wou & the Wormling, Stricknice, Bitzone, and I have been working on. Like all the rest of the songs in the set, this one began during the start of the pandemic and reflects the changes in political perspective that were happening in society, and continue to this day. And, as with the other songs, I started this song with an unreleased demo from Wou-Wou and created a 1 minute outline which I then often passed on to a guest collaborator. When it came time to fully work on the track, I expanded on the original idea, along with the guest collaborator stems, until a full song was arranged. I then passed the bones and organs of the song to Stricknice and Bitzone to add any additional muscles and flesh they believed in until it was finished. I am so blessed to work with Wou-Wou, Bitzone, Stricknice, and all the guest collaborators on this inspired set, that one day will be complete. May everyone find something authentic to themselves to believe in. This is also the first part of four tracks within the album directly based on Wou-Wou’s comic, The Shrike. It has been incredible working with Bitzone and Stricknice throughout the project as well. It is always cool when the everyone in the stag heard works well togehter and brings distinct yet complimentary ideas to the mix. Nature has a way of quickly shaking off the traumas of the past and returning to its most basic of desires. You see, all of life yearns to mate and procreate, and while most that experience defeat from the stronger or rejection from those seeking the fitter, muster the determination to get back up again, some take their spurning to heart, as if they were more deserving than nature intended, where it festers and begins to grow a new grotesque life of its own. Verse Word Yo As antlers crashed with the desperation of lust And the scent of musk in the air I couldn’t help but take notice there Was a sweet smell of autumn Carried in the gust Of wind It is a beautiful time of the year When the does come into estrus And there is only one thing on my mind I must get some of that behind I find Times like these to be harbingers That linger I could count times like these on my fingers If I didn’t have hooves And wasn’t crashing to the ground With the sound of defeated dreams Of games of hard to get And multiple days of getting wet I let the overwhelming excitement of rut Get the best of me And now am crest fallen to see The Doe that I thought was mine Walk away with the buck that brought me down to the twines Uh | — | ||||||
| 10/21/23 | ![]() Alpha Roots, Jamie R, Jonathan B, Joerxworx, Russ & the Couch King - Somnambulist Break In | Gary, of Mountain Songs (https://soundcloud.com/mountain-songs) contacted me about 2 years ago and offered me a baseline stem from an Alpha Roots collaboration he was working on with Joerxworx. About 2 years ago, that is crazy! I, of course, said I would take the stem. I needed to finish some other songs that were in the works before getting to play with Alpha Roots’s baseline. By the time I was ready to connect with the vibe, Russia had invaded Ukraine, unfathomable tragedy had begun, and the world was changing again. My song writing reflected the horror of what was going on. By the time all the stems were gathered, vocals were recorded, and the song was mixed and mastered, another war had broken out and the horror continued. Massive thanks to Mountain Songs for trusting me with these blessed Alpha Roots stems. So glad Jamie, Jonathan, Joerxworx, and Russ got a chance to work with Alpha Roots again. Alpha Roots lives on. I can't believe how fast time has passed and how long we have been working on this project. 4 songs from the album are based on a graphic novel that Wou-Wou had started before the pandemic began. The rest of the songs are reflections of the weird times we were living in. Big thanks to Wou Wou, Bit-zone, and Stricknice for still being here after all these years. I have known and worked with people on SoundCloud probably longer than I have known high school friends, college friends, and friends from various jobs. Huge thanks to Guitar Wizards of the Future. Jon’s original track instantly inspired me and the lyrics easily flowed onto the paper (actually I write all my lyrics in Apple Notes, lol) and then into GarageBand (using my Apple headphone mic to everyone who mixes my vocals exasperation). I held onto the unmixed track for a while (really for no good reason besides it wasn’t in the stars’ plan until now) and then finally worked up the urge to “git er done.” As for the lyrics, the last time I had anything weed related was probably 11 years ago in California. At that time, all things marijuana were relatively easy to acquire since many of my friends had “doctor’s notes” to go to the medical dispensaries. It was fun to try all the new novel dope products people were making and selling. Since living in Oregon, for over 6 years now, I have not once thought about partaking in the herb, even though I can easily walk to several cannabis stores from my home. This song was inspired by the mass shootings that plague the United States and the lack of progress this society and government makes toward increasing the safety and well being of all. I was recently surprised by an article in support of the “good guy with a gun” solution in a mainstream liberal news article. It’s basically the wild wild west out here still, lol. This song was inspired by the conservative agenda, which at the time was more noticeably gaining momentum, to systematically whittle away and block the rights of those groups that did’t align with their values. The conservative agenda continues to gain strength, and it is up to the people to support each other in maintaining and advancing rights (including those of groups one is not a part of). It has been a great pleasure working with Stricknice, Bitzone, and Wou-Wou on these tracks. We are blessed by all the support the SoundCloud community has given to our releases. And thanks to taRka, Arkestar, Joerxworx, Bitzone, and Alex for all the inspiration, creativity, and energy you added to this track. You all made this track what it is! I grew up on hip hop and have always been a hip hop musician first. Hip hop (and lo-fi indie rock) is the lens through which I always first approach making a song. After spending years listening to the music of our SoundCloud community, everyone's music has found a deep place in my heart. I believe that when hip hop artists first began sampling funk tracks in the 80s, it was out of love and respect for the music they grew up with and identified with. I now sample the music of my SoundCloud collaborators and friends to make new songs from those that I love. Tony Turn Around is a celebration of that process. It is a representation of the joy of sampling and the delight of playing around with cool sounds from musicians you respect and admire. I hope you all continue to enjoy what we have created as a community here on SoundCloud and Bandcamp! | 3/20/21 | ![]() Bitzone, Joerxworx, RS Frawstakwa & the Couch King - What Difference Does It Make | This is the 3rd song Bitzone, Frawstakwa, and I have worked on together for my CKP page. I wanted this latest track to continue with the electronic hip hop vibe we had established with our previous two tracks. Bitzone dug into his rich production archive and found a beat 10 years deep that met the criteria. This time I sent the track first to Frawstakwa to switch things up, since the last two songs I had started off. Frawstakwa came up with these deep metaphysical verse and chorus lyrics and I added a literal interpretation with my verse that I hoped would complement his meaning while keeping in theme with the previous two tracks. Bitzone then worked his magic and transformed the track into an electronic hip hop rock fusion. And then for a final surprise, he asked Joerxworx to join in with some futuristic EWI. In the end, I like that this track is different from It Ain’t Looking Good and Trendsetting and I think it points at a possible new direction for the next track we all work on together. Thank you for all your listenings, comments, playlists, radio spins, and purchases. The musical team is eternally grateful. | 2/12/21 | ![]() DeeP., Phil McWalter, Nathalie B20 & the Couch King - Tangled In Your Mind | DeeP. and the Couch King EP collectable stickers and zine available on Bandcamp here: https://musiciselation.bandcamp.com/album/deep-and-the-couch-king This is the 3rd original song that DeeP. and I worked on together. I really appreciate his experimental yet accessible dark and soulful production work. I like how his music allows me to touch on topics that I normally wouldn’t write about if I were leading the music production. I have been reflecting on how it is important to stretch and grow and try new things. DeeP.’s music really helps me to achieve this goal and his mixing and mastering really brings out the best in me. I wanted this song to fit in thematically with the other 2 songs we worked on but I felt the music wanted me to expand the range of subject matter. Therefore, I went gothic and took my cues from gothic literature, such as The Castle of Otranto and Frankenstein, and tried to channel those literary elements into a pop song. For the subject matter I was also reflecting on how psychic connections and empathy can be draining unless one develops and maintains skills to remain grounded and whole. It is so fun to make music with musicians one admires. SoundCloud is the best place to be a fan. Both Phil McWalter and Nathalie B20 are SoundCloud legends and incredibly talented and prolific musicians who I have listened to for years now. I feel super honored to have finally gotten the chance to make music with these giants. I hope they had fun as well!!! Slowed and Reverb Remix: https://soundcloud.com/syncopater-raps/ghosting-out-slowed-and-reverb-remix Thanks for indulging my weird ideas Bitzone, you are the best! This song is part of an LP of 12 songs that I made with Stricknice, Bitzone, and Wou-Wou & The Wormling (and many other friends who you all know on SoundCloud) from a massive set of demo tracks that Wou-Wou graciously passed on to me. Basically, this LP worth of songs was an early pandemic gift cause I had a little extra time on my hands to make music! I was originally going to release all the songs in one long track but one of my muses kept telling me to release this song on its own and I eventually succumbed to her wishes. I am massively grateful for all the work Stricknice, Bitzone, and Wou-Wou put into this big project. There may be more songs from this project that trickle out before the whole set is released. It was super cool to finally work with Bontender on a song. I have been a big fan of his indie rock sound for a long time. Bonetender rocks!!! This song goes out to all the loners, weirdoes, freaks, and geeks out there. Who cares what society wants you to be. Be yourself and you just do you! There are plenty of normal people in the world already. | 11/22/20 | ![]() Chris O, Belial Pelegrim, Janine Levinson, Jon Lock, Calebass, Russ & CKP - Wind Blows Wicked | I have a lot of faith that people can be strong enough to recognize where they have done (or are doing) harm and make sincere amends. I also believe that people have the power to heal and forgive wrong doings. It takes great strength to walk together through the fire of our pains and come out the other end holding hands, recognizing and honoring our differences while acknowledging and celebrating our similarities. May everyone get a chance to break bread together, enjoy some wine, and share some laughs. Thanks again to Calebass, Jon, and Janine for joining me together on a 3rd track. We make a great team! It was really fantastic to have Chris O and Belial Pelegrim finally join a track on my page. Chris O and Belial are two SoundCloud legends in my opinion. I am so grateful to be making music with all my favorite people. If only I had more time to make music with all of my favorites on the cloud. Who knows, maybe I do! And massive thanks to Russ and the Chaos Cookhouse for baking my bread in their oven once again. If it wasn’t for them, I would only be serving balls of dough. | 10/8/20 | ![]() Joerxworx, D.D.Danahy, Heartscore, Jon Lock, Bitzone, Russ, the Couch King - Malice In The Palace | It sure seems there's always malice in the palace. Either you’re in the palace causing malice or you’re trying to stop the malice. In both cases there's still malice in the palace. As subjects, we have to live with that malice, so get out and vote. And if voting doesn’t make a difference, get out there and storm the palace, but only for a cause I believe in, lol. I love roots reggae and am stuck in the period between '68 and '82. Don’t get me wrong, ska is great, and I lump rocksteady into my preferred period of reggae. And I am not saying I don’t appreciate later periods of reggae and dancehall. I did enjoy the 90s dancehall that often went along with golden era hip hop. But I will always like 70s roots reggae best. I must be old. Thanks SoundCloud friends for making roots reggae with me and helping me LARP my musical fantasies. You're all the best! May everyone live out their rock star dreams. You’ve got to be pure of heart and pure mind Cause blessed are the pure in heart So you’ve got to live clean If you know what I mean There’s malice in the palace We’re storming the citadel, yes! And in the end, the last shall be first, and the first last For many shall be called, but few shall be chosen Trodding in this world of inequity People are dying in the city And kings in palaces dem show no pity There’s malice in the palace There’s malice in the palace Queen Majesty let’s lick up the chalice I wanna hear I wanna hear what you can tell us So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it For him it is sin And that is the way of the righteous For the path may be rocky But the conscious can remain clean If you know what I mean There’s malice in the palace And we’re storming the citadel, yes! For many are called, but few are chosen There’s malice in the palace There’s malice in the palace, Queen Majesty let’s lick up the chalice I wanna hear I wanna hear what you have to say And don’t you lie to us Or we’ll be climbing the citadel, yes! Or we’ll be climbing the citadel There’s too much inequity So don’t you try quell Do good things for in due season we will reap So do not grow weary in doing good, y’all And the fruit of the spirit is love, goodness, and peace And against such things there is no law Living in the righteous way is no flaw There’s Malice in da palace And We’re storming the citadel We’re storming the citadel, yes! For many are called, but few are chosen There’s Malice in da palace There’s Malice in da palace There’s Malice in da palace There’s Malice in da palace Trodding in this world of inequity people dying in the city Kings in palaces dem show no pity And we’re all going to be storming the citadel, yes! So Queen Majesty I wanna have a word with you and lick up da chalice I wanna hear, I wanna hear, I wanna hear what you have to say There’s Malice in da palace There’s Malice in da palace And don’t you try to quell us There’s Malice in da palace Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life | — | ||||||
