About this episode

The episode discusses the life and faith of Saint Peter, his martyrdom, and the significance of his letters.

Today I saw an outline of the country of Italy, fine tuning to Rome, then the Vatican and finally where St Peter was martyred and buried. This has directed me to the letters that Peter wrote at the end of his life. He had known Jesus personally and was convinced he had seen the resurrected Jesus and that every word Jesus had spoken was true, which included the Baptism of the Holy Spirit He had promised. Peter was imbued with God's power to preach the gospel as a result of the infilling of the Holy Spirito. If someone always speaks the truth we have no need to doubt that person. Peter was absolutely convinced at the authenticity of everything Jesus said and did. Because of Peter's adamant faith in Jesus, he was prepared to die an horrrific death, at the command of Emperor Nero. Let us do good in our faith for Jesus and if we suffer, let us endure it. "This is commendable before God. To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example... when they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead,he entrusted himself to him who judges justly." (1 Peter 2:20-23).
