About this episode
The episode explores the themes of forgiveness and God's mercy through the lens of Shakespeare's play 'The Tempest'.
Today I saw a cyclone though heard the word 'tempest' which directed my thoughts to William Shakespeare's play The Tempest. I studied it when I was 14 years old and can remember the characters and the love aspect but had completely forgotten, or maybe even missed the importance of the forgiveness extended by the main character, Prospero. Perhaps we are the same and miss the main part of the plot, the purpose of our lives - to receive God's forgiveness towards us however much we have rejected or disobeyed Him. Psalm 107 is full of examples of God's mercy and forgiveness. One example in verse 29 tells us that in answer to those in distress during a storm on the sea, "He stilled the storm to a whisper and the waves of the sea were hushed. They were glad when it grew calm and He guided them to their desired haven". Let's not forget God has a good purpose for each of our lives.
