The corridors are intact, the systems are responsive, and the bulkheads sweat a luminous synthetic plasma that does more than intoxicate or infect: it produces a lucid, ecstatic certainty that suffering has meaning. Whole compartments have been repurposed into devotional architecture, most grotesquely a former medbay remade as a chapel of restraint frames facing the fold core, as if the vessel has reorganized its human functions into worship. Once one exposed salvager begins preaching that the missing crew were not destroyed but translated, the team realizes the danger is not only environmental contamination.
