About this episode

The episode pays tribute to Ted Turner while discussing his impact on media and pop culture.

Just when you thought only Art brought the celebrity obits every week, this episode focuses on the media’s recent loss of Captain Outrageous, the Mouth of the South…the inimitable Ted Turner. And lest any mourner be left out: the sailing world, Major League Baseball, and bison-lovers everywhere are also spilling tears into their dry vodka martinis at 5 minutes after every hour. Thanks to Turner’s WTCG, which later became WTBS, The Guys in their young (ish) teenage years had the opportunity to watch almost every Braves game and cheer for the Goldar (the Space Giant) in his ongoing battle against Rodak. (Not to be confused with Polaroid’s ongoing battle with Kodak.) Turner was controversial, but a legend in the media world, where nobody thought CNN would last. Ted may be gone, but he’s not Gone with the Wind. Geeks of the week get a new spin this week: Jay goes first! A flopped Disney property gets a reboot, and Jay gets an explanation of why an entire section of Disney World was closed when he was there this year. Art is looking forward to the introduction of some guest singers on the new Rolling Stones album. And Robbie is sitting on the edge of his tomorrow again. Listen to this…
