As an actress, she’s brought us dozens of unforgettable performances, especially “Lilly Harper” in the groundbreaking TV series, “I’ll Fly Away”, for which she won a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Drama Series, as well as receiving 2 Emmy Award nominations, 3 NAACP Image Awards, an American Television Award, and TWO Viewers for Quality Television Awards. We also remember her as “Judith Bryant” in “The Education of Max Bickford”, “Molly Blane” in “The Unit”, and she portrayed Anita Hill in the 1999 TV movie, “Strange Justice”, for which she won a Peabody Award and a Gracie Award. She also portrayed Michelle Obama’s mother in the 2022 TV series, “First Lady”.
