High School Slumber Party

High School Slumber Party AP is back in session to talk one of Aislinn's favorite teen movies from 2022; Paramount+'s Honor Society. Starring Angourie Rice (Spider-Man: No Way Home, the Nice Guys) as a driven high school senior whose path to success hinges on a cunning scheme to undermine her rivals in an effort to obtain her guidance councilors coveted letter of recommendation. Also staring Gaten Matarazzo (Stranger Things) and Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Superbad).

Aislinn and Brian discuss the new Hulu documentary, Brooke Shield's: Pretty Baby. Though this two part documentary examines the life and Brooke Shield's, your AP hosts focus on her teenage years; especially her work in the films Pretty Baby, The Blue Lagoon and Endless love as well as her upbringing in the constant face of fame.

Brian welcomes back some high school friends; Kyle Reinfried of Foodie Films and photographer Danny Kim to talk 2002's City of God (directed by Fernando Meirelles and Kátia Lund). It's a film the gang all saw during their teenage years together and as they look back with nostalgia glasses they discuss cool movie posters of the era as well as how the movie holds up today both cinematically and ethically.

A Halloween tradition continues on High School Slumber Party as Shawnee Mead (The Podcast Around the Corner) returns to talk 1958's The Blob. Starring a very non-teenage Steve McQueen in his first role ever, this b-movie classic had very humble and interesting beginnings, and we're not talking about the catchy theme song and animation that ushers it in.

Here's the story of a lovely lady...or really, a story of two brothers who both found their way into loving the absurd yet amazing "The Brady Bunch Movie" (1995). Kenny Rodriguez stops by the slumber party to chat all about this satire based on the 1970's TV show of the same name. The film is both the most 70's movie and the most 90's movie ever made and the brothers look back with nostalgia glasses as they share their favorite moments involving Greg, Peter, Bobby, Marcia, Jan, Cindy, Mike, Carol, Alice...and Jean Smart.
