| 6/10/26 | ![]() A former professional photographer to a celebrated author - Kim Gottlieb-Walker | I had a wonderful conversation with Kim. She has a great sense of humor and I love it. She is now in her 70s and still moving around and being productive. Get ready to be inspired by the incredible career of Kim Gottlieb-Walker! Her lens captured everything from the vibrant energy of '60s and '70s rock, reggae, and political movements to the magic of blockbuster movies and hit TV shows. Even while studying at UCLA and shortly after, she was snapping photos for underground LA publications like Crawdaddy and Music World. But that's not all! She was the official stills photographer for iconic John Carpenter films such as Halloween, The Fog, Christine, and Escape from New York. For nine years, she was the go-to production photographer at Paramount Pictures for the legendary sitcoms Cheers, and then spent five years doing the same for Family Ties. On top of all that, Kim dedicated three decades to advocating for still photographers as an elected representative on the National Executive Board of IATSE Local 600, the International Cinematographers Guild. Talk about a powerhouse! This talented entrepreneur has graced us with stunning coffee-table photo books like "Bob Marley and the Golden Age of Reggae" and "On Set with John Carpenter," both published by Titan Press (UK) and distributed by Random House (USA). These beauties are so popular, they've gone through multiple printings and have even been translated into Japanese, Russian, and French! You might have even caught her captivating gallery shows in London, Los Angeles, and New York. And that's not all! Her debut novel, "LENSWOMAN IN LOVE - a novel of the 1960s & ‘70s," has snagged over a dozen literary awards, including "Best Debut" and "Novel of the Year." Plus, keep an eye out for her upcoming historical novel, "CATERINA BY MOONLIGHT," which whisks you away to Renaissance Florence in the late 15th century. Her evocative short story, "Summer of Love – 1967," is also featured in the acclaimed anthology "FEISTY DEEDS."Feel free to reach out to her directly at Kim’s websites are: www.Lenswoman.com for an overview of her photographic historyand www.TheRenaissanceWoman.net, which can also be found through www.KimGottliebWalker.com - her author website. She can also be found on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/KimGottliebWalker/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/lenswoman/Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/gottliebwalker/_boards/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kimgottliebwalker/?hl=enSubstack: https://kimgottliebwalker.substack.com/Thank you for listening to and supporting the podcast. | 6/19/25 | ![]() The hilarious journey with an all-new perspective of the Middle East by Author Candace | I had an absolute blast having Candace MacPhie on my podcast! She's truly an inspiring individual, and our chat was incredibly captivating. Candace hails from Montreal, Quebec, and has spent years exploring the globe while backpacking and working. With a Bachelor of Commerce and an MBA under her belt, she has amassed two decades of experience across four continents but now calls Calgary, Alberta, her home. After getting married and starting a family, life got pretty hectic, and time flew by as her kids quickly grew up. To prioritize family, she made the bold choice to leave her job and focus on home life. During the COVID lockdown, with a bit more time on her hands, she decided to dive into writing and launched the "Back in a Year" series. Currently, she has three series: the first one is "Finding Color," the second is "Life Strikes Back," and her latest is "Hello, I Am Here." Candace's recent book, *Hello, I Am Here*, tells the story of her adventure with a ticket to travel the world, setting her sights on the Middle East. But instead of diving into her travels, she's stuck in Prague, pining for a guy who made it clear he doesn't love her. What keeps her there? It's like kryptonite holds her back. Together, they roam through the Czech Republic and Germany, indulging in way too many peanut butter sandwiches and avoiding their feelings—until they can't any longer. When she finally boards a plane to meet up with her Australian friends, each step she takes through the scorching Middle Eastern heat brings a whole new set of challenges. Her escapades in Europe seem like a walk in the park compared to what lies ahead. This book captures her journey, showcasing the obstacles she faces and how she manages to push through against all odds. You can find out more about Candace's books and trip photos on her website www.candacemacphie.com and available on Amazon, Goodreads, and at bookstores and websites everywhere! | 5/3/25 | ![]() Unforgettable International Opera/Sacred Singer & Author Kay Sparling | My conversation with Kay Sparling was truly unforgettable. Her personality is simply extraordinary. Transitioning from a long career as an opera singer to becoming an author was a significant shift for her, one that came with its challenges. Yet, she persevered and never lost hope. Kay shared that she faced numerous rejections when trying to get her book published, but rather than deterring her, those setbacks fueled her determination to push onward. Kay Sparling is an international opera and sacred singer. Now retired, she lives in the Upper Midwest with her feline writing buddy, the invincible Paducah. When not teaching voice lessons or writing, Kay enjoys gardening, hiking, adventure travelling, and cooking for her family and friends. Kay's novel "Mission Thaw" is a captivating narrative that revolves around Kaitlyn Stewart, an American opera singer currently apprenticing at the Vienna State Opera. Unexpectedly, she finds herself enlisted by the CIA as a top-tier special agent. Her mission? To deeply infiltrate a human trafficking cartel run by corrupt Western businessmen, the KGB, and East German operatives, all while gathering critical intelligence.
