Just as Israel crossed the Red Sea yet longed for the “fleshpots” of Egypt weeks later, believers today are tempted to return to the comforts of the flesh. The Christian life is not passive belief but disciplined endurance. Salvation is secured by Christ alone, but sanctification requires attention, courage, wisdom, justice, and temperance. We are called to run our race to win, guard against carnality, and grow into mature sons and daughters who do not trade eternal reward for temporary comfort.
