I'm going to admit something that may surprise you. And if you're not from Texas, it may shock you! I recently learned that in Texas, you do not have to be registered with a political party to vote in that party's primary election. In Texas, you don't declare party affiliation when you register to vote. Instead, when you show up to vote in a primary, you simply request the ballot of the party whose primary you want to participate in. That's it. Now… most of us are registered with the party of our choice, but that's separate from being registered to VOTE. I've always supported the candidates that most align with my values, yet I've never been registered with a particular party.
