The Tennessee Titans are all about football, but right now a different kind of football has taken over the country as the World Cup is happening on American soil. While the Titans certainly aren't qualified to participate, it is fun to wonder what a lineup would look like if the Titans tried to play some soccer. Cam Ward and Carnell Tate would have to lead the offensive attack, but that doesn't mean Ward would be at the top of the card. Facilitating in the middle to weapons around him is still Ward's best use. Having speed surrounding him will be key though and Calvin Ridley, Kevin Winston and Alontae Taylor fit the bill in the middle of the field. Being able to switch ends quickly will be key. On defense, some big men have to get a chance to play so Jeffery Simmons and Peter Skoronski get their shot to hold down the back line in front of Keldric Faulk, whose length gives him a chance to shut down the net.

One of those things that must be organized is a camp for his weapons to get chemistry work in. Simmons has absolutely earned every penny after not only having his best season, but remaining loyal through the teams struggles. Simmons should be a Titan for life at this point. The contract is also a big-time steal for the Titans from a financial perspective. Other top defenders in the NFL are getting significantly more per year on average. This gives the Titans even more opportunity to build a team worthy of Big Jeff's talent. Lucky for the Titans this is done now and can continue a summer of boredom for the team in the best way.

The Tennessee Titans capped off mandatory mini-camp on Wednesday and Xavier Restrepo was the star of the show. Multiple catches on the day, including a jaw-dropping one-handed catch, made him a standout in a continued pattern for the second-year receiver. The man ahead of Restrepo in the slot, Wan'Dale Robinson, also had a busy day with multiple catches. It is no surprise that these two slot targets are making noise. However, the defense also made their plays on the day from multiple sacks to wins in coverage, that side gets paid too and they showed it. This comes with two starting safeties missing. Jeffery Simmons, JC Latham & Femi Oladejo are all banged up, but the consequences aren't equal.

The Tennessee Titans kick off mandatory mini-camp this week and seeing Cam Ward get back on the right track would be the best thing that could happen. While it isn't time to panic, Ward has been having his struggles through summer sessions so far and getting the momentum rolling in the right direction with a full complement of teammates would be a nice thing to hear. Also, Ward and Carnell Tate heating back up would be great progress, but hearing about Cam's connection with Calvin Ridley as Ridley gets back to full go would be something else to keep an eye on. Ridley's potential makes him a key player if the Titans hope to hit their goals or exceed them. The offensive line deserves attention too as starting offensive tackles JC Latham and Dan Moore have been absent of late. Their status plus the right guard battle make the trenches more interesting than ever. That counts on defense too as Jeffery Simmons and John Franklin-Myers have also not been participating in sessions so far. Having them back out on the field would mean a lot from a locker room perspective as well. Finally, Femi Oladejo getting back out there would be great as he is currently falling behind while his fellow second-year teammates, Kevin Winston and Marcus Harris, look to keep thriving.

Looking at other players in OTAs, the wide receiver battle is as hotly contested as ever and this is relatively new territory for Titans fans as the receiver group is as deep as ever, but it isn't just receivers. Tight ends and a rookie running back have also stepped up. On defense, the Titans youngest players have been most impressive, but some veterans have also used these summer sessions to make an early impression.

OTAs are underway for the Titans, and the position battles are heating up—especially for the backup quarterback role. Veteran Mitch Trubisky seems to have a slight edge over Will Levis, highlighting the critical importance of finding a reliable second-in-command for starter Cam Ward. Also, it would be nice to hear Cam Ward had a sharper week as he learns more about the playbook. Staying on offense, watching the position battles on the offensive line will be key, even in an unpadded environment. Also, depth battles at running back and wide receiver will continue to garner interest. Finally, on defense, Femi Oladejo needs to return and seeing the young linebackers continue to flash will be paramount.

The Tennessee Titans have had an issue at wide receiver since trading away AJ Brown, but with Carnell Tate emerging early on as a potential alpha weapon, the Titans might have fixed that problem for the foreseeable future. An elite version of Tate, combined with Wan'Dale Robinson and future additions, is quite the talent collection and is already one of the better groups in the AFC. A big part of maximizing the wide receiver group will be the performance of offensive coordinator Brian Daboll. Daboll having a good season with the Titans could lead to his departure, but if he leaves after only one year, that would hinder Cam Ward's development. Two years is a good outcome though and gives Daboll time to train his replacement. Finally, the Titans have a lot of unsung veterans who they will need to make an impact this season and they are mostly underdiscussed. Identifying and getting good play out of the unsung vets is what every fan should be hoping for.

The Tennessee Titans traded up to get linebacker Anthony Hill in the second round and with that comes the expectation he can make an immediate impact. That means it is great news to hear that Hill has already been flashing in practice from his direct position coach. Hill taking a step forward and filling a starting role early on would be a good sign for the defense. On offense, the Titans new coaching staff is a perfect fit for Cam Ward due to the amount of research and work they had done on Ward going into last year's draft and a recent comment from the Titans quarterback coach made that obvious. Finally, the Titans want to rotate the defensive line a ton, but that means limited snaps for Jeffery Simmons. However, the Titans coach on the defensive line said Simmons is bought into the approach fully.
