In today's episode we are so excited to discuss a major topic of interest right now, philanthropy and social media. As COVID-19 has reshaped so much of our daily lives we wanted to shed some light on the potential that social media holds as a bridge between philanthropy and donors. We are fortunate enough to get to sit down with the philanthropic organization One in An Army and talk about how they leverage social media and how a simple hashtag helped them raise $1.4 million in 24 hours.

In today's episode we sit down with our very own Director of Philanthropic Initiatives, Carly Gordon to talk about some of the basics surrounding the ever mysterious word "philanthropy". We discuss what philanthropy is and who are philanthropists. We even dive into some common misconceptions. We hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did recording it. 

This is the first episode of a three part series titled "Disaster Relief, Where to Begin?" In this series we will be discussing the North Valley Community Foundation's role in disaster relief after the deadliest wildfire in California history, the Camp Fire. This series will feature an all star squad of disaster relief love warriors. They will be sharing some of their experiences, best practices, and lessons learned through this work. In this first episode we will be interviewing our Director of Grants Logan Todd to discuss some of the systematic sides of how NVCF responded to the Camp Fire and continues to respond to disaster today.
