About this episode
The episode discusses the importance of aligning with God over mere achievement, using the example of Israel's worship in Joshua chapter 8.
In Joshua chapter 8, Israel pauses in the middle of victory. Instead of moving forward to take more ground, they travel into uncertain territory to worship and renew their covenant with God. It is a moment that challenges our drive for constant progress and reminds us that alignment with God matters more than achievement for God. At the altar, they offer burnt offerings as a picture of full surrender and fellowship offerings as a reminder of relationship with God in community. They also publicly read every word of God’s law, choosing to anchor themselves in His truth. For us today, the altar is not a place but a posture. We are called to be living sacrifices, offering every part of our lives to God. That means honesty in bringing our struggles, surrender in releasing control, availability in saying yes, and obedience in following His Word. We do not drift toward God by accident. Without intentional surrender and consistent time in His Word, we will drift away. Every day, we are being shaped. We will either live aligned with God or pulled by our own direction.
