| 7/29/22 | ![]() Conversations with Jane Nixon: Her journey with birth trauma, healing & finding the inner strength to birth again | In today's episode our host Mon speaks with Jane Nixon about her experience into motherhood. After an intervention free labour that was progressing well Jane found herself in a cold operating theatre at fully dilated preparing for a trial of forceps. After a successful forceps which avoided an emergency caesarean Jane was adjusting to the fourth trimester not really understanding what had just happened, but like many women she pushed her feelings aside & got on with newborn life. Nearly two years later Jane found herself pregnant again and these feelings that she had once pushed aside surrounding her birthing experience had started to creep back into her mind. Jane discusses how she identified & overcame her birth trauma in preparation to welcome her second baby and how she advocated for herself to have that empowering birth she had always dreamt of. It's one of the simpler and less invasive treatment options available to help you have a baby. It increases the number of sperm that reach the fallopian tubes. The more sperm that reach the tubes - the greater the chance of fertilisation. | 3/4/22 | ![]() Conversations with Rachel Ownsworth: Induction of labour, emergency c-section, appendicitis, a negative birthing experience | In today's episode our host Mon speaks with Brisbane based Mumma, Rachel Ownsworth about her motherhood experience. After a straightforward conception journey Rachel envisioned the rest of her pregnancy to take the same path; however at 14 weeks she found herself in the emergency department after experiencing excruciating pain in her abdomen which was found to be appendicitis. After an uncomplicated procedure to remove her appendix Rachel was discharged home only to find herself being remitted with a serious wound infection that put both herself and her baby at extreme risk. With her partner being away until 36 weeks for work this added additional stresses to her pregnancy with the thought that he may not make it to the birth due to covid restrictions. After hesitation, Rachel found herself booked in for an induction where her labour took a turn and baby Hugo was born via an emergency caesarean. Rachel opens up to us about the real and raw emotions she has surrounding her birth as it was not what she had ever imagined. Both Rachel and I hope that if you to have experienced negative emotions surrounding your birth that these feelings are validated and that you are not alone. Please welcome Rachel.
