About this episode
The episode discusses the political crisis in Negeri Sembilan and its implications for the national government.
The state’s Pakatan Harapan Menteri Besar says he is staying put with the blessings of the Palace, following a dramatic 24 hours. With Barisan Nasional out, the problem is he leads a minority government. For context, over the last week the state has been rocked by an open rift in the ruling aristocracy which found no resolution. The Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Aminuddin Harun’s failure to resolve the state’s royal constitutional dispute is being cited by UMNO for its withdrawal from the state government. The problem is UMNO holds 14 Barisan Nasional seats which it gives its partners in Pakatan Harapan a majority. Unfortunately for Pakatan Harapan, it has only 17 seats insufficient for a majority. We ask what repercussions this crisis will have for the Unity Government at the Federal level and is a snap election a likely outcome?
