| 5/14/26 | ![]() Leading in Chaos | Unprocessed trauma is a governance risk — especially intimes of sustained uncertainty. But there is a second, often unspoken dimension of leadership in complexity: the capacity to access deeper judgement, intuition, and purpose — the “hidden chamber” that sits beneath the surface of rational decision-making.In this segment, host Sandja Brügmann and Amy Elizabeth Fox explore how emotional maturity and trauma‑informed leadership shape executive decision logic, risk‑taking, alignment, and sustained execution in complex, high‑pressure environments. They frame trauma‑informed leadership not as a wellbeing initiative, but as a business imperative for coherent strategy and action in a BANI world — one that is Brittle, Anxious, Nonlinear, and Incomprehensible.Amy Elizabeth Fox discusses the urgent need for inner healing, systemic change, and mature sense‑making, emphasising how spiritual grounding and emotional regulation directly influence organisational performance and leadership effectiveness under sustained uncertainty. This conversation addresses one critical dimension of leadership capability. Vertical development is essential for the evolution of the mind towards a synthetic strategic level — a level of capability required to perceive and shape the transition to a clean economy within planetary and system constraints. This sits at the core of the New Global Mind inquiry.Chapters00:00 Introduction and Guest Credibility01:10 The Context of Leading in Chaos02:07 The Two Secrets of Corporate Life04:06 Trauma and Inner Healing for Leaders05:32 New Leadership Competencies for Unpredictable Times06:20 Sourcing Inner Groundedness and Emotional Safety07:29 The Need for Exponential Imagination08:12 Befriending the Mystery and Next Practices08:52 The Evolution of Leadership Development09:46 Business Case for Deep Inner Work11:48 Impact of Trauma on Decision-Making12:37 Interconnected Crises and Systemic Pressure14:16 Reawakening and Reconnection in Business15:06 Aligning Business with Life and Sustainability16:11 The Power of Vulnerability and Authenticity18:15 Creating Supportive Organizational Structures20:01 Breaking Through Trauma Conditioning23:14 Fostering Joy, Passion, and Inspiration25:28 The Impact of Collective Trauma on Action26:47 The Role of Tears and Emotional Release27:21 Integrating Spiritual Wisdom into Business28:00 Practical Strategies for Organizational Transformation30:59 Reimagining Work as a Living System32:20 Practices for Embodied Leadership32:37 The Power of Movement and Art in Leadership32:46 Closing Remarks and Inspirational Call to ActionNew Global Mind is a video podcast exploring leadership and strategic transition in complex systems. Mathias Wikström is a Sweden based renowned sustainability business leader in the cross section of Finance, Sustainability and Human Rights. Show Notes:Even the most ignorant can't ignore the crisis and the consequences that we're already seeing. But is it really a climate crisis or a plastic crisis or a biodiversity crisis? I believe it is a leadership crisis. And that's where you guys come in. We're not lacking the data. We're not lacking the tech. And to be fair, we're not even lacking the funding if the funding knew what to do. We're lacking the leadership. And as long as the leadership is not in place in regards to addressing this, think frustration is going to go up. Frustration is going to lead to conflict and conflict might lead to friction and friction toviolence. And we just don't want to go down that road. The only way to address this crisis is together. It's not the... It's not a one man band can fix everything. Technology and AI is not going to save us. It's tools that might work well for us, but we need leadership. The full episode will release on August 15. Show Notes:Well, resilience keeps bouncing back. It's cool and it's good. But how do you bounce forward? There's the transcendence component, right? Because bouncing back is resilience is great. There's a lot of regeneration is the big thing these days. How do you maintain a healthy organ... Very important. Healthy environments, resilience and regeneration. But in order to be a game changer and not just play within the bounds of the system, you have to be willing to dream about what could we be? Where's the next evolutionary path that we could go to?Where's the next stage of our corporation, of our company, of our society? And then dream into that, sense into that as well, because it's not just fantasy dreaming, but it's also saying, this could work.
