What happens to our relationships when life changes? Whether you’re walking through a season of blessing, disappointment, uncertainty, loss, or a completely new beginning, transitions have a way of revealing who—and what—we’re really holding onto. In this message, we continue our series on The Anchor, looking at why our relationships must remain a priority during seasons of transition. Just as Jesus is the unchanging Anchor we can hold onto, God has also given us people who are meant to walk with us through the journey. Through the stories of Noah, Abram, the Prodigal Son, Naomi, Ruth, Orpah, and Paul, we see an important truth: The call may be individual, but the journey is relational. Transitions can tempt us to isolate, abandon foundational relationships, or cling to people whose motives aren’t rooted in genuine love. But Scripture reminds us that God often accomplishes His purposes through faithful, committed relationships. Ruth’s decision to remain with Naomi seemed to make little sense in the moment—but God was working through their transition in ways they could never have imagined. Her faithfulness became part of a story that ultimately led to the lineage of Jesus. You may not know where your transition is taking you, but you don’t have to know the destination to trust God with the transition. As you listen, consider: Who are the “fortress people” God has placed in your life?Are you tempted to isolate during a difficult transition?Are you building on the relationships God has already given you?Are you a Ruth—a faithful friend who stays even when there seems to be nothing to gain?What is God asking you to trust Him with in this season? “He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.” — Psalm 62:6 Don’t walk through your transition alone. Hold tightly to Jesus, honor the people God has placed around you, and trust Him with where He is leading you. What does it mean that God is faithful? In Hebrews 10:15–23, we are reminded that because of Jesus, we can draw near to God with confidence and hold firmly to the hope we profess—because He who promised is faithful. Faithfulness means being stable, steady, firm, and true. People may change. Circumstances may shift. The world may constantly chase what is new. But God does not change, abandon His promises, or walk away from His people. In this sermon, we explore what Scripture reveals about the faithfulness of God: • God is Stable — He is our Rock, and His ways are trustworthy.• God is Steady — He does not change with circumstances or emotions.• God is Firm — He is completely committed to His promises and to His people.• God is True — His Word and His ways conform to reality and lead us toward life.• God is Faithful — His steadfast love never ceases, and His mercies are new every morning. When we know what God has promised, we can live differently in the present. Faith is knowing what God has promised and taking the next step based on that knowledge.
