I was eight years old, and I don’t remember every detail, but I remember the feeling. The country came together. Not perfectly, not without problems, but there was a sense that we were part of something shared. That’s what stuck with me. And it’s what feels missing right now. After I finished recording the video, something hit me. This idea is bigger than a video. It’s not enough for one person to talk about conserving water. It’s not enough for people to make small changes at home, even though those things matter. What’s missing is leadership. We’re already seeing restrictions in places like Colorado. We’re already seeing warning signs in the snowpack. And yet, the response still feels scattered. Individual. Optional. That’s not how you get through something like this. If we’re heading into the kind of drought conditions this year is pointing toward, then we don’t need suggestions. We need direction. We need coordination. We need leaders who are willing to stand up and say, clearly and directly, “This is what we have to do, and this is why.” That’s not happening. And it should be.
