The two disciples believed in Jesus, but their understanding was incomplete—they expected glory without suffering, redemption without the cross, and victory without sacrifice. When those expectations were not met, they became discouraged and confused. But Jesus didn't leave them there—He corrected them by opening the Scriptures and showing that suffering was always part of God's plan before glory. In the same way, when our expectations are shaped by culture, emotion, or partial truth, we will misread God and feel disappointed.
