Well, here you have it folks!! The World's first and only album dedicated to hunting in Africa. Each song specific to an animal, event or region within the Dark Continent. I wrote the lyrics to each song and used AI to assist with the vocals and instruments. After many late nights, at least 10 - 15 versions of each track, tweaking the beats and finding the right rhythms to go with each song, I finalised the tracks and combined them to make the Round The Fire Album. It's the one thing every hunter and PH dreads on a hunting safari, a wounded animal! Tensions begin to rise, panic sets in, everyone becomes to come up with different theories as to what happened and before you know it, a bad vibe sets in that can ruin the entire trip. When it comes to a wounded animal, everyone has their job. The trackers get to work following the animal and the PH keeps his eyes peeled and his head on a swivel in case the animal shows face again. But what role can and does the hunter play in a wounded animal scenario? In this episode, I answer that question and add a few pieces of advice that could help prevent this feared outcome. Enjoy! Now here is a real pickle that is often faced by hunters that are returning to Africa for their 2nd, 3rd or 4th trip. The dilemma of having to choose between hunting with the outfitter again, heading off on a separate with your best bud the PH or maybe even going to hunt with a completely new hunting operation altogether! When it comes to hunting trophies in Africa, as hunters we often get hung up on size, inches, length or even a "good representative" of the species. However, have you considered hunting those real warriors of a species? The old battle axes, the ones way past their prime, the ones that defended their ladies, drove off the threats and put their bodies on the line to remain top dog for as long as they could. For many hunters the country of Mozambique is usually reserved for their 5th, 6th or 7th hunting trip to Africa...and for good reason! Mozambique is without a doubt a wild wild place, and to be called truly wild in Africa is saying a lot. The hunting is hard, the animals are fierce and if they don't kill you, then either the malaria or Tsetse flies will.....or the land mines will. You get my point, it's a wild place. Well, my guest for today's episode decided that Mozambique would be his first port of call into his hunting Africa journey and by the sounds of his stories, it was an incredible decision to make. I put out a call on social media for some hunting stories and by goodness did the hunting community respond. This weeks episode I give a brief bit of advice for those heading to the hunting shows in the US and frankly, anyone else that may be planning a trip to Africa. Then I jump straight into two fantastic hunting stories shared by Ron and Michael from the US, who so kindly took up the call for hunting stories and decided to share their experience of hunting in Africa. I have run hunts in Africa and I have run hunts in Texas. One would assume they are the same, but in reality they are vastly different. In this episode, I share some insight into what it was like prepping for a hunt here in Texas versus how we would prepare for a hunt back in South Africa. I talk about the new aspects of hunting in Texas I had to learn, such as blind and feeder placement, the correct judging of Whitetail age and how to go to war with wasps! I really enjoyed having a chat with Travis from Georgia on this episode, for two reasons. The first being, he hunted in the same area of South Africa where I had hunted many times with clients and also a youngster. So it was great hearing the perspective of another hunter about an area I hold closely. The second reason being, Travis took his two daughters with him on his first African safari and by the sounds of his stories and the admiration coming from him as a father, those girls had a literal blast. My guest on today's podcast is Tai Emery, is a current bare knuckle fighter, power slap competitor and former Legends Football League player. Tai may not fit the mould of your traditional trophy hunter, but a recent trip to the Eastern Cape of South Africa opened her eyes to real benefits that hunting can bring to local communities.
