Gerek and his companions have survived their first night outside the shelter of their village, but not without injury. Erod, their leader, lies badly wounded and feverish. With little supplies, and only a cave for refuge, tensions are high among the company. Ribrn in particular, has grown bitter toward Gerek and his dear friend Zurad. How will Gerek respond to this new hostility?
