| 5/13/26 | ![]() 128 🔸Regional Style Archetypes and What Your Zip Code Inherited | Your region was already shaping what you wore, what felt normal, and what got you sideways looks at dinner, long before you had any framework for personal style at all. Colin Woodard's American Nations framework proposes that North America is actually 11 distinct cultures, each with founding values that have persisted for centuries. The eleven nations: Yankeedom (New England to the upper Midwest): Founded by radical Calvinists. Deep investment in education, community improvement, and civic duty. New Netherland (New York City metro): Founded by the Dutch as a commercial trading hub. Pluralistic, cosmopolitan, entrepreneurial from the start. The Midlands (Pennsylvania to the central Midwest): Founded by Quakers who welcomed all. Moderate, consensus-driven, deeply suspicious of extremes. Tidewater (coastal Virginia and the Carolinas): Founded by English gentry who recreated a feudal aristocracy. Hierarchical, formal, oriented toward tradition and lineage. Greater Appalachia (the Appalachian backcountry to the Ozarks): Founded by Scots-Irish borderlanders. Fiercely independent, deeply suspicious of outside authority. Deep South (South Carolina to east Texas): Founded by Barbadian planters who built a slave society. Ceremonial, hierarchical, intensely communal within its own ranks. El Norte (the southwest borderlands): The oldest European culture on the continent. Hardworking, independent, shaped by two nations simultaneously. The Left Coast (coastal Alaska to northern California): Founded by New England missionaries and Appalachian prospectors. Idealistic, innovative, convinced it can build something better. The Far West (the interior West to the Great Plains): Shaped by the extraction economy and harsh climate. Pragmatic, self-reliant, resistant to outside control. New France (Quebec and Louisiana): Founded by French colonists who prioritized relationships over hierarchy. Communal, convivial, with a strong sense of place and pleasure. First Nation (northern Canada and Alaska): The nations that predate all the others. Cultures built on deep relationship with land, community, and living tradition. In this episode I'm applying that lens to style, introducing the 11 nations and their regional style archetypes, and asking a question most style advice never thinks to ask: which parts of your style are actually yours? | 5/6/26 | ![]() 127🔸Wearing Black: What to Pair With It Based on Your Type | Most color analysts say wearing black depends on your season, but actually your cognitive functions reveal why you're drawn to black and what to pair it with. In this episode, I break down why introverts have a different relationship with black than extraverts, what each introverted function needs black to do, and the polarity principle for pairing black in ways that actually work for your type. If you've ever wondered why wearing black feels essential even when it's not your best color, this framework will make sense of it. Let's connect! | 4/29/26 | ![]() 126🔸3 Style DNA Principles Most Experts Have Never Heard Of | Your style DNA is the operating system underneath every outfit decision you make. In this episode, I share three principles that are original to my Style DNA system and that you are unlikely to hear from a stylist, a style quiz, or an AI. These are the mechanics behind why some outfits make you disappear and others make people finally see you. We cover chroma harmony and the Same Plane test, why your favorite color is the only thing in your closet that is truly timeless, and how to translate a boho-at-heart aesthetic into rooms that require you to look polished and intentional. If you have ever stood in front of a mirror and felt like something was off but could not name it, this episode is for you. Let's connect! They have a design problem. Dressing for your body type isn't about minimizing or hiding. It's about understanding your body's design and making choices that harmonize with it. Today's episode teaches the principle that makes fit challenges make sense, including specific strategies for tummy, bust, and thighs. | 4/1/26 | ![]() 123 🔸 How to Be Popular by Letting People Actually See You | Most people think they know how to be popular. Be agreeable. Be relatable. Don't take up too much space. But there's a woman at the nail salon who never got that memo, and everyone in the room loves her for it. In this episode I'm unpacking what actually makes someone magnetic, why it has nothing to do with swearing, and what it has everything to do with. Including what your wardrobe has to say about it. | 3/25/26 | ![]() 122 🔸 Your Best Style Inspiration Has Nothing to Do With Clothes | Most people build their style inspiration boards from outfit photos. The problem is you end up chasing someone else's aesthetic instead of your own. The designers at Alice Lane build their interiors from sources that have nothing to do with interiors: a vintage sports car, a textile, a memory of a place. The result is spaces that feel completely original because the inspiration was never borrowed. Your wardrobe works the same way. When you stop looking at clothes for style inspiration and start looking at everything else that moves you, something shifts. You stop second-guessing and start recognizing. The image tells you what you're after. Then you just have to translate it. That's what this episode is about. Let's connect! Discover your essential aesthetic in Signature Style Foundations. | 3/18/26 | ![]() 121 🔸 Myers-Briggs Cognitive Functions and Making Friends as an Adult | Most people think of personality type as a fun way to understand themselves. What they don’t realize is that your cognitive functions also predict a lot about which friendships will feel effortless and which ones will require more work. In this episode I share what I’ve noticed about making friends as an adult through the lens of Myers-Briggs cognitive functions, including what happens when types are just one letter apart, why the perceiving functions shape what you want to talk about, and why none of this shows up on a standard personality test. This is part two of a two-part series. You don’t need to listen to part one first, but it’s worth going back to. Let's connect! | 3/11/26 | ![]() 120 🔸 How I Started Making Friends as an Adult Again | Most women say making friends as an adult is hard. And they’re not wrong. But hard doesn’t mean impossible, and it doesn’t mean out of your control. In this episode I share what I’ve learned about making friends as an adult, including the small moves that actually work, why the busy seasons of life can quietly create a friendship gap you don’t notice until later, and the moment I realized I had more choices than I thought. | 3/4/26 | ![]() 119🔸What Nobody Tells You About Signature Style and Fabric | Have you ever found yourself with a closet full of clothes but nothing you actually want to wear? One of my clients, Lauren, recently sent me a voice memo. She's been applying the signature style principles we worked on together, and she noticed something: she keeps pulling clothes out of her closet and not wanting to wear them. Not because of color. Not because of fit. Because of how the fabric feels. Most signature style advice focuses on color and silhouette, but fabric choice determines whether you'll actually wear your clothes. In this episode, I break down three frameworks for understanding fabric: how it relates to your body's natural lines, your energy and movement, and your personal sensory processing. If you have clothes sitting unworn in your closet, this episode will help you understand why. And if you want to work through your fabric preferences and how they work with your body and your energy, join the March 2026 Style DNA Lab. Let's connect! | 2/25/26 | ![]() 118 🔸 The Value Contrast Mistake That Makes Women Invisible | Many women silently lose themselves to life and responsibilities. One way this shows up visually is through value contrast choices that don't match their natural coloring. Last episode, I mentioned seeing one exception to the rule that genuine preferences align with what works. This week, I'm sharing what happened and why understanding your value contrast is essential to being seen for who you truly are instead of disappearing in your own outfits. If you're an ENFP, INFP, ENTP, or INTP, this question probably feels familiar. Your cognitive functions are creating doubt, but here's what you need to know: your genuine aesthetic preferences and what actually works for you align more than you think. | 1/28/26 | ![]() 116 🔸 The Minimal Mom Principle That Makes Wardrobes Work | I went to the mall last week. I was surprised to see the clothing stores are basically gone. I guess if I was shopping for my clothes at the mall, I wouldn't have been surprised. In this week's episode, I share how my clothing spending changed last year, in light of the shifting retail landscape. I hear "I don't know where to shop" from people all the time and it makes strategic wardrobe building more necessary than ever. I'm also sharing an important principle from a YouTube decluttering channel I've been watching. When The Minimal Mom explained how she uses "favorites first" alongside categories and containers, I realized it is the exact formula I use in my wardrobe building system, The Wardrobe Pyramid. | 1/14/26 | ![]() 115🔸How 44% Make Personality and Style Decisions Differently | My sister is ENTJ. I'm ENFJ. One letter different, right? Wrong. Our dominant cognitive functions are completely opposite—and it explains why we've butted heads our entire lives. She makes decisions based on what's effective. I make decisions based on what gets everyone's needs met. Both of us care deeply about people. Both of us are managing things in the outer world. But we're using entirely different criteria. This isn't about gender. It's not about Thinking versus Feeling. It's about understanding the judging polarities—and why 44% of us are an invisible minority in personality and style decisions. | 12/17/25 | ![]() 114 🔸 Your Personal Identity Is Your Gift to the World | Jamie Winship teaches that your identity is your gift to the world—no one else can give the gift you can in the truth of who you are. For years, I diminished myself for a noble reason, making space for someone I loved. But in 2019, watching people crossing the street with their belongings in shopping carts, I was convicted that I could do more. I realized that helping people look like themselves with less effort and resource means they can devote more to solving the problems we face collectively. In this episode, I explore why your personal identity is meant to be expressed, how hiding who you are keeps your contributions from being received, and why the world needs you to show up as who you actually are. If you've been playing small or feel invisible despite having something meaningful to contribute, this episode will help you see your personal identity as the gift it truly is. | 12/10/25 | ![]() 113🔸 What Jamie Winship Can Teach Us About Why Beauty Matters | Jamie Winship teaches that only two things can move the human heart: suffering and beauty. Most people think suffering is meaningless and beauty is superficial. But what if beauty isn't superficial at all? What if it's actually one of the most profound forces for transformation? In this episode, I explore why beauty matters more than we've been taught to believe, how God used beauty to speak identity to me through felt goat ornaments, and why your style journey works best when it invites through beauty rather than obligates through rules. If you've ever felt guilty about caring how you look, this episode will help you see beauty as the profound spiritual force it actually is. | 12/3/25 | ![]() 112 🔸 The Self-Discovery Path You'll Actually Enjoy | Psychologist William Glasser taught that fun isn't frivolous—it's the genetic reward for learning. When self-discovery feels enjoyable, you engage more deeply and retain what you learn. Most approaches to self-discovery require significant emotional labor, discipline, or financial investment. But what if understanding your personality through cognitive functions gave you both profound insights AND practical application you'd actually look forward to? In this episode, I share why the self-discovery path through personality profiling and style exploration is uniquely engaging, how it became my own map for personal growth, and why the homework is something you'll genuinely enjoy. If you've been searching for a way to know yourself better that doesn't feel like grinding through difficult work, this episode is for you. | 11/26/25 | ![]() 111🔸How Many Clothes Do I Need? Less Than You Think | How many clothes do I need? If you're starting over or feel like your wardrobe isn't working, this question matters more than you think. Knowing how many clothes you actually need is the most effective way to build a wardrobe that works for your real life. In this episode, I'm walking you through the strategic sequence for building from scratch: why the order matters, how to think about proportions, and the simple framework that takes the guesswork out of wardrobe planning. | 11/19/25 | ![]() 110 🔸 Does Your Signature Style Evolve Over Time? | Have you noticed your style preferences shifting over the years? Most people worry when their signature style starts to change, thinking it means they never had one to begin with. But here's what I've learned through both personal experience and working with clients: your signature style should evolve as you grow and mature as a person. In this episode, I'm sharing five legitimate reasons your authentic style naturally shifts throughout your life, from personality development to energy changes to major life transitions. The key is knowing when evolution is authentic versus when you're chasing trends or other people's opinions. Listen to learn when your signature style should change and when it shouldn't. Not because it makes you look better, but because it removes the friction that keeps you distracted and self-conscious. In this episode, I'm challenging the idea that personal style is frivolous. When you understand your authentic style, you stop thinking about what you're wearing and start focusing on what actually matters: the people you're with, the work you're doing, the impact you want to make. | 11/5/25 | ![]() 108 🔸 Seeing Beauty Through a New Lens: The Power of Aesthetic Mirroring | What if discovering your personal style could start with something joyful instead of something stressful? In today's episode, I'm sharing the story of how I inverted the traditional style process—putting seeing beauty at the very beginning instead of starting with body type rules and expert formulas. Last week in Episode 107, I shared what my mentor Carla Mathis taught me: what you love aesthetically is what looks like you. This week, I'm telling you how I took that wisdom and created The Aesthetic Mirror—a process that helps women discover their style by seeing beauty in what they're naturally drawn to. In this episode, you'll hear: • The divine epiphany that led me to invert the process • What happened when I tried this approach for the first time • The story of a client who was so excited she told my daughter at the mall • Why seeing beauty through group reflection is so powerful • How The Aesthetic Mirror works and who it's for Core insight: Most people think you need expert analysis before you can trust your style choices, but actually seeing beauty in your own aesthetic preferences is the anchor for authentic style. | 10/29/25 | ![]() 107 🔸 What Carla Mathis Really Knows About Art & Individual Style | What if your individual style isn't hidden in your closet or your color season, but in the images that take your breath away? In today's episode, I'm sharing wisdom from my mentor, Carla Mathis, who discovered through decades of client work that what people love aesthetically is what looks like them. Carla wrote The Triumph of Individual Style, teaching how to use artistic principles in getting dressed. But what set her apart was her "visual favorites" method—clients brought images from art, nature, and lifestyle that moved them, and Carla could read both the mood and the technical details to guide their personal style. I trained with Carla from 2012-2014, earning my certification in style and color. The style training alone was four times the volume of the color training. I worked alongside her as an assistant and apprentice, learning not just technical skills but how to truly see women and honor their unique aesthetic. In this episode, you'll discover: • Why aesthetic preference connects to individual style • How the "visual favorites" method works • What Carla understood that most stylists miss • How this planted the seed for The Aesthetic Mirror (coming in Episode 108) Key insight: Your style confusion isn't because you don't know something you are supposed to know. It's because you've been taught to ignore your own aesthetic wisdom in favor of expert formulas. Next week: How I took Carla's insight and inverted the entire process, creating The Aesthetic Mirror—a way to discover your individual style that starts with beauty instead of rules. | 10/22/25 | ![]() 106🔸Generational Theory and Why We Don't Budget for Clothes | Do you have a budget for your clothes? Most style advice assumes the problem is overspending: closets overflowing with unworn items, tags still on. But when I polled my LinkedIn network, 86% said they don't buy enough clothes and wear things too long. In networking conversations, easily half the women I talk with budget exactly zero dollars for their own wardrobes. Here's what generational theory reveals: Each generation absorbed specific messages about when it's "appropriate" to invest in appearance. 🔸Baby Boomers swung between Depression-era thrift and consumer abundance without strategy. 🔸Gen X learned to keep our needs small, which Dave Ramsey confirmed by literally erasing the clothing line item from the budget. 🔸Millennials inherited that underinvestment and added layers of ethical consumption anxiety. In this episode, I'm connecting Strauss & Howe's generational theory to why we struggle so much with realistic wardrobe budgeting. Plus, I'll share actual numbers that make sense for different income levels. Spoiler: $100-200 per month isn't extravagant—it's sustainable. Then I came across Hannah Louise Poston's video on art composition, and suddenly everything clicked. This one artistic principle - foreground and background - explains so much about how we experience our clothing in different environments. | 10/8/25 | ![]() 104🔸Beyond Boxes and Labels: Creating Your Signature Style Map | Many people collect style labels hoping one will finally click. You get typed as a Spring, then a Dramatic Classic, then a Type 4 - and you're still not sure what to wear on Tuesday morning. Here's what's missing: those labels don't teach you how to navigate your own decisions. In this episode, I'm sharing the difference between being given a style category and creating your own style navigation system. It's the same principle that makes personality typing either limiting or life-changing - and it completely transforms how you approach getting dressed.
