Episode 506 / Ragnar Kjartansson Ragnar Kjartansson is an artist who lives and works in Reykjavik. He engages multiple artistic mediums in his performative practice. The history of film, music, theatre, visual culture and literature find their way into his video installations, durational performances, drawing and painting. Pretending and staging are key tools in Kjartansson’s efforts to convey sincere emotion and offer genuine experiences to audiences. Kjartansson’s work has been exhibited widely, including solo exhibitions and performances at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Kunstmuseum Stuttgart, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Barbican Centre, Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Reykjavik Art Museum, Palais de Tokyo, and New Museum.

Episode 504 / Elmer Guevara Elmer Guevara is an artist born and raised in Los Angeles. He received a BFA in Drawing and Painting from Cal State University Long Beach and an MFA in Studio Art from Hunter College in New York City. Elmer’s work has been exhibited domestically and internationally at M&B Gallery, F2T Gallery, Residency Art Gallery, Lyles and King, and Barbati Gallery among others.His work has been covered in publications such as the LA Times and Contemporary Art Review and he is in the collections of Cal State University and the Crocker Art Museum.

Episode 502 / Yung JakeYung Jake is an artist & rapper who received his BFA from Cal Arts in 2012. He has had 13 solo exhibitions in Los Angeles and New York, and over 25 group exhibitions in the U.S., China, Finland, Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands, respectively. Yung Jake is also a musician and directed music videos for Rae Sremmurd and Pusha T. His work has been featured at venues including Sundance, where his videos Datamosh, and E.m-bed.de/d were screened, as well as performances in Los Angeles at the Hammer Museum, REDCAT, MOCA, The Getty Center, and at the Museum of Modern Art. In 2017.His artwork has been shown in numerous art fairs including MiArt, UNTITLED, Miami Beach, Art Brussels, the Seattle Art Fair, the Dallas Art Fair, and Market Art + Design. His first solo museum exhibition titled Cartoons was on view at Guild Hall, East Hampton.

Episode 499 / Claudia WieserClaudia Wieser is a German artist based in Berlin. Her work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at The Drawing Center, New York; the Contemporary Art Museum, St. Louis, MO; and Smart Museum, Chicago, IL. Her work has been included in recent group exhibitions at the Katonah Museum of Art, Katonah, NY; the Anderson Collection at Stanford University, CA; the Hamburger Bahnhof, Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart, Berlin Germany; Asia Culture Center, Gwangju, South Korea; Contemporary Arts Center New Orleans; Museum für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt; and Marta Herford Museum for Art, Architecture, Design, Herford, Germany. Wieser’s work included in a number or prominent public collections, such as the Contemporary Art Collection of the Federal Republic of Germany; Collection of the Berlin State Museums, Neue Nationalgalerie, Sammlung Goetz, Munich; Deutsche Bundesbank Kunstsammlung, Frankfurt; Mercedes-Benz Art Collection, Germany; K21-International Contemporary Art Collection of the Kunstsammlung North Rhine-Westfalia; the Anderson Collection, Stanford University, CA; the William Louis-Dreyfus Foundation Collection; and the Louiand Zabludowicz Collection, London. In July 2021, Wieser unveiled her first outdoor public installation, commissioned by Public Art Fund, at Brooklyn Bridge Park in New York. In 2023, she presented work in collaboration with historic Yves Saint Laurent couture, designing a set and exhibiting her work at the Museé Yves Saint Laurent, Paris. In 2020 she collaborated with Hérmes to design a catwalk for Paris Fashion Week. She recently completed an outdoor installation at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center in Athens. Claudia earned an MA in Painting and Sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich. She lives and works in Berlin. She just opened a solo show at Marianne Boesky gallery.

Episode 440 / Jess Valice is a Los Angeles-based artist born in 1996 in Los Angeles, California, who studied art in grade school but went on to pursue an education in neuroscience at Santa Barbara City College (SBCC). After three years into her education, she decided to end her path in science to pursue painting. Self-taught, Jess Valice now showcases her work with various galleries including Carl Kostyal Gallery (London, Milan, Sweden) and Stems Gallery (Paris, Brussels).

Jamie Luoto (b. 1987) lives and works in the San Francisco North Bay. Her work has been featured in publications such as Booooooom, Art Maze Mag, and New American Paintings; appeared on platforms such as Juxtapoz and Hyperallergic; and is in international private and public collections including the Green Family Art Foundation (Dallas, USA). Influenced by her upbringing in Japan and her current home in New York City, Shino Takedaʼs ceramics embody her sensory experience of sight, touch, taste, sound, and smell. Most of her works are hand-built using the coil method, and incorporate several different types of clay, making each piece one of a kind. Takeda uses her own memories, reflections, and appreciation for her life as inspiration for her works, celebrating the perfect imperfections inherent in handmade objects, and the unexpected alchemy when she works with wood-fired kilns. Takeda is renowned in the design world and her work has recently crossed over into the art world: her 2019 debut solo exhibition Diary was presented at JDJ The Ice House, Garrison and included her ceramics , textiles, and a furniture collaboration. Presentations with JDJ at the art fair NADA Miami in 2019 led to an artist residency at the Fabric Workshop and Museum, Philadelphia, PA, and developed into her mixed media installation for the group exhibition Hard Cover at the museum in 2021.

Jansson Stegner (b. 1972, Denver, CO, US; lives and works in Santa Barbara, CA, US) received his MFA from the University of Albany, New York. Stegner has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions with Sorry We’re Closed, Brussels; Bellwether Gallery, New York; Mike Weiss Gallery, New York, and most recently, Almine Rech Gallery, New York. He was the recipient of the 2010 Art Brussels: Collectors’ Choice Award and was the 2015 Deutsche Bank NYFA Fellow. Stegner is represented by Nino Mier Gallery, Los Angeles and Sorry We’re Closed, Brussels.

Andrew Paul Woolbright is an artist, gallerist, and Editor-at-Large at the Brooklyn Rail, living and working in Brooklyn, NY. Andrew is an MFA graduate from the Rhode Island School of Design in painting and is the director of the Lower East Side Gallery Below Grand. He currently teaches at Pratt and School of Visual Arts in New York. He has shown his work at galleries such as Rachel Uffner, Yellow Peril, the University Of Illinois, InSitu, Hesse Flatow, DeBoer Gallery, The Hole, Zurcher Gallery and many more.

Alicia Adamerovich (B. 1989, Latrobe, PA) is an artist living in Brooklyn, NY. She received her Bachelor's of Design from Pennsylvania State University in 2013. Adamerovich has been a recipient of several residencies including the Del Vaz Projects Residency (Los Angeles); Moly Sabata Artist Residency, Albert Gleizes Foundation (Sablons, FR); and Palazzo Monti Residency (Brescia, IT). Her recent solo exhibitions include This is the time of the hour, Kohn Gallery (Los Angeles); Ultra-gentle manipulation of delicate objects, Pangée (Montréal, QC); Second Nature, Del Vaz Projects (Los Angeles) and A Bat out of Hell, Sans Titre (Paris, FR). This summer Alicia will attend the Hayama Artist residency in Japan and will present h er rst New York solo exhibition at Timothy Taylor Gallery in November. She has participated in exhibitions at Lafayette Anticipations (Paris, FR), Timothy Taylor Gallery (NYC), Margot Samel Gallery (NYC), Rachel Uffner Gallery (NYC), Mrs. Gallery (Queens), Yee Society (Hong Kong), Green Family Art Foundation (Dallas), and Artpace (San Antonio). Alicia’s work can be found in the permanent collections of The ICA Miami (Miami, FL), He Art Museum (Guangdong, CH), X Museum (Beijing, CH) and the Green Family Art Foundation (Dallas, TX). Adamerovich is represented by Timothy Taylor Gallery (London, NYC) and Michael Kohn Gallery (Los Angeles).

Lauren Quin draws from a pool of the unformed and the entropic to render shapes caught in a process of emergence or recession. Parts grow out of other parts. And like bacteria, material starts to infect and invade. Her mark-making implies a passage between dimensions that generate sensuality and movement. Quin holds an MFA from the Yale School of Art, and a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work has been the subject of several solo exhibitions including her first US museum show, My Hellmouth, at the Nerman Museum of Art in 2023. Her work is held in numerous public collections including the Columbus Museum of Art, Dallas Museum of Art, High Museum of Art, ICA Miami, Museum of contemporary art, Los Angeles, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Nerman Museum of Art; Pérez Art Museum, Phoenix Art Museum, Walker Art Center, and the Hirschorn Museum. Lauren opens her first solo show in New York on May 3rd at 125 Newbury.
