Good morning, this is your North Carolina surf zone forecast for Sunday, June 7th through Monday, June 8th, 2026. Starting in the north with the Northern Outer Banks, expect small waves of one to two feet today with light southwest winds around ten to fifteen miles per hour. The rip current risk is low, though as always, stay cautious around structures like piers and jetties. Water temperatures are chilly in the lower sixties, so a wetsuit might be your friend. The sun will be strong with a very high UV index, so sunscreen is absolutely essential. Highs will reach the upper eighties under mostly sunny skies. Moving south to Hatteras Island, things get more interesting. North of Cape Hatteras, you're looking at one to three foot waves with a low rip current risk today. However, if you're heading south of Cape Hatteras, pay close attention. The rip current risk jumps to high with two to three foot waves, and there's a beach hazards statement in effect through this evening. Southwest winds will be around twenty miles per hour.
