| 12/27/24 | ![]() 210. How I overcame my fear of selling as a changemaker entrepreneur | Change leaders and healers often feel resistance to sales because, deep down, it seems like wanting more money conflicts with our heart, values, and mission. We care deeply about helping others, so the idea of “selling” can feel misaligned. But this resistance can lead to a much bigger challenge: selling too little—or not at all—which means not earning enough to sustain ourselves and the impact we’re here to create. In this episode, I share my personal journey of transforming my relationship with sales. I went from feeling afraid to sell and guilty for wanting to make more money to building a six-figure changemaker brand that’s helped hundreds of people. When sales become a natural and aligned expression of your mission, everything changes. Let’s continue the conversation—what’s your biggest struggle with selling? How to leverage a business AND non-profit to make change with Cecilia Polanco | Lasting, revolutionary, disruptive change increasingly requires getting SUPER creative about financial strategy, business and legal structures, and values alignment in this day and age, where as a society we face massive challenges to individual's rights, opportunities, and freedoms. Social entrepreneurs with big visions like our guest in this episode, So Good Pupusas and Pupusas for Education Founder Cecilia Polanco, don't allow themselves to be put in a box. Instead of being restricted by the limitations of existing paths and models for social change, they create NEW ONES. They leverage what's available to create structures that allow for innovation and transformational change. In this episode, listen to Cecilia's story of how she has followed her life experiences and purpose to create self-sustaining educational scholarships and jobs for her community, leveraging BOTH for-profit business and non-profit organizational models. She works in the fields of mental health advocacy, food and environmental justice, economic community development, youth development and organizing, and more just philanthropic and nonprofit systems. She values racial equity and anti-racism, intersectionality, the path from DEI to liberatory systems, building bridges of solidarity, freedom dreaming around decolonized strategies and systems, radical joy and celebration, and a visionary for a healing path forward together. As a facilitator she believes in co-creating brave spaces to grapple with both having experiences and being agents of harm, channeling our inner child in our work, and slowing down to prioritize connection, relationship, and heart centered work. | — | ||||||
| 5/21/24 | ![]() 191. What is Abundance? | What changed my relationship with money forever… I had always conflated abundance with gluttony, thinking abundance meant having SO much that it was at the harm and expense of others. 😔 I definitely didn't want that. As a mission, impact-oriented advocate and social entrepreneur, I had zero interest in going in that direction. But like many advocates and heart-centered entrepreneurs, this left me trapped at the other end of the spectrum: constantly struggling with money and living in scarcity. I thought this was the only option to live in alignment with my values. 🤦🏽♀️ Then I finally realized abundance is actually the MIDDLE point between scarcity and gluttony.💡Abundance is about having just enough that you’re super comfortable. 🌊 This is the ideal state to be in to be able to turn the focus inward from just focusing on yourself to outward so you can truly serve others and expand your impact. 💜 More of the world’s future leaders need to understand the true meaning of abundance, as well as the strategies how to tap into it in their daily lives. The world’s future desperately depends on it.This is why I’m teaching my newest financial empowerment and business intimate group coaching program for heat-centered advocates and entrepreneurs, Abundance Amplified. To feel safety and security. THE ACTUAL TRUTH is... investing for these reasons can actually be RESTRICTIVE and severely LIMIT the potential of your investment earnings and growth. Money is a made up human concept. It’s actually just a symbol to exchange value. As long as our sense of safety and security is based on it, we’ll never feel safe. Instead, we can see money and investments as always expanding and growing, just like nature and the larger universe. Listen to episode 183 of the Finance Business & Purpose Podcast to explore investing from a place of expansion, instead of restriction. Stay tuned for guided journaling questions at the end of the episode to help you APPLY this powerful reframe to increase the power of your investing strategy! >>P.S. Message me on IG @adinaappelbaum or @immigrant.finance to share: What's your EXPANSION-based reason for investing? | — | ||||||

| 3/18/21 | ![]() 27. Scarcity Mindset Is The Source of Racism And Money Mindset Challenges | We stand in solidarity with the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community during these difficult times. The many escalating violent attacks against the AAPI community are one of the many manifestations of the white supremacist culture and systemic racism in this country. As described by Whitney Parnel of Service Never Sleeps, scarcity mindset - the idea that there are scarce resources, not enough for everyone, and that resources have to be taken away from others to have enough - is the source of racism. It's also the same mindset that blocks us from thriving and building wealth. Believing there are not enough resources for us is the source of many money mindset challenges. But scarcity mindset is a myth. There are enough resource for everyone. The natural state of the world and each of us comes from a place of abundance. All human lives deserve to thrive, be free, and be valued equally. There is enough for everyone in our shared humanity. Everyone should be able to live their best lives and reach their fullest potential. That is justice.
