In our first twenty-two episodes, TABI's Tarot World explored the imagery in each of the Major Arcana. It was an amazing journey through so much magickal meaning, and we thank all of our guests for joining us to establish a solid ground of wisdom and understanding. Now we're ready to apply the magick and bring it all to life. For Episode 23 of TABI's Tarot World, your hosts Victoria and Gwen talk to witch, Tarot and Lenormand reader, and astrologer Rebecca Birrell about Tarot for Magick. Rebecca is a practitioner of both High and Low Magick, and we see her vast expertise at play as she explains how to take our inspirations through the Tarot to manifestation. We talk ritual and consecration; using Elements to manifest reality; and how connecting to symbols bypasses the rational mind. When we enter The Moon's lunar landscape of mists and shadows, it can be frightening. It's a whole Other world, and we're maybe not sure how to go forward. Kenn Payne, deck creator and Hekatean devotee, joins Victoria and Gwen for episode 19 of TABI's Tarot World podcast to help us find our footing. We discuss how The Moon asks us to look directly at illusion, persona, and hidden truths, and distinguish them from what is real, what we need to confront and address. What is your true face? And which is your reflection? Kenn points out that in popular culture, we often see Death or The Tower presented as cards to fear, but The Moon with its dreamlike un-logic and roots in our deepest, darkest selves, is maybe a more logical choice to be wary of. But does that mean we should "stick to the roads and keep off the moors"? *cue howling* Not at all. There is a vulnerability on this path, and there are no guarantees because who knows what's coming up out of the water, but there's hope and guidance, and the opportunity to look deeply and honestly at ourselves, our true selves, and resolve those fears as they appear in the moonlight. It's the only way to grow. Kenn discusses how in a reading The Moon directs us to take action and we talk about the moon's connection to Hekate, a cthonic goddess who watches as we cross between worlds — just like Mercury, whose influence we see in the Thoth interpretation — and Kenn and Victoria talk Divine devotion: what is it, and how we can express it. We look at The Moon in several decks, comparing the faces — phases? — in each of them. And we bring in crystals, plants and herbs, flowers and fragrances, and trees to bring everything back into the world we're a little more familiar with. When are you happy to see The Tower? If you're ready to hold your feet to the fire, then join Victoria and Gwen in welcoming guests Clair and Heather to episode 17 of TABI's Tarot World podcast, where we discuss what might be the most visually, viscerally destructive card in the Tarot. It's ruled by Mars after all, and most versions depict a tower being destroyed -- the walls come tumbling down -- so where do those walls come from in the first place? Are they built up around us by others? Or do we create them as we go along in life, only to discover that we've hemmed ourselves in? One thing is for sure: Tower magick is powerful and it is not picky, so if your plan is to slash and burn, be prepared to release everything and run when the flames take. And yet ... there is hope. Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end, and regeneration is the reason for fire season. We share our interpretations of the Marseille, RWS, and Thoth Tarot Tower cards; our personal experiences with it; and Heather offers us a meditation to use with the card that works with both the interior and exterior -- the world around us, and the ego that we've put through the wringer in the last few cards. Here, finally, we see what needs to give. We look at the position of The Tower on the Tree of Life and what that tells us about our life path (surprise! Welcome to the watery world of the Hanged Man, the second of the four Elemental trumps, where everything stops whether we like it or not, our expectations are turned on their head, and the question might just turn out to be the answer. In episode 13 of TABI's Tarot World, Victoria and Gwen are joined by Heather Jones, owner of Numinous Press and creator of The Great Workbook, for a discussion about how the Hanged Man manifests in real life. Heather tells us about her experiences in the last year, and how living in very close quarters with the Hanged Man has given her a new perspective on the interlinked role that symbolic and literal water can play in our lives. We take a deep dive into the esoteric implications: are we being drowned? Baptised? Just hanging in there? Associations with Odin, Christ, and Osiris are well-known, but the Egyptian frog-goddess Heqet reminds us that the whole point of drowning is what comes after. Depite the constant roar of the Mighty Waters, the Hanged Man is 'The Path of Stable Intelligence', the presence of Consciousness in every aspect of the world around us and beyond. We chat about The Hermit as guide and compare him in this aspect to the Hierophant, and look at how his placement on the Tree of Life might be expressed in the card itself. The relationship between the staff and serpent leads us to some unexpected fire in this earthy Virgo card. We talk about Elemental Dignities and how we interpret The Hermit in a reading, whether upright, reversed, or ill-dignified. Mary mentions that The Hermit is the card for 2025 and suggests how we can keep an eye out for him once we get there. It's a card whose image is deceptively straightforward — there is a lot of symbolism here, in both the RWS and the Thoth. We start with a discussion of the mysterious moons on the Charioteer's shoulders, how they might relate to the divination of black and white, and how the Charioteer is connected to the Magician. The depiction of The Chariot and the Charioteer comes directly from the Book of Ezekiel, which leads us to humanity and divinity; mistakes and lessons learned; control and the need to drive your own Chariot in life; and the grounding connection to earth that is the hub of it all. In the RWS version, he looks very much like a church father, but is that all there is to him, even in that deck? It might seem like a very straightforward card, but there's a lot going on in the depiction of the Hierophant no matter which deck you use, and we work our way through some interpretations that might surprise you — they surprised us!
