With TJPW's Summer Sun Princess a mere few days away, we got to ask the current International Princess Champion Suzume, a few questions before the big event. Where she will defend her title against Wakana Uehara. Q: In the 2024 Max Heart tournament, you and Arisu Endo (Daisy Monkey) defeated Miu Watanabe and Rika Tatsumi (Day Dream) to win the tournament, Day Dream are the current Princess tag team champions, If they retain the titles at Summer Sun Princess, are there any plans for you and Arisu to challenge for those titles? A: I’m always looking for a chance! Daisy Monkey have both gotten stronger than we were back then, so I’d love to have all kinds of matches again with who we are now. But first, I can’t wait for Daydream vs Kyoraku Kyomei title match. Q: On January 4th this past year, you challenged Miu Watanabe for the Princess of Princess championship in a sold out Korakuen hall, What did it mean to you to be in the main of such a well received show and match against Miu? A. It was a day where I put everything out there. I lost, but I felt it was my highest point ever. There was more reaction from around the world than ever before, and it made me think Miu-san really is an amazing Princess after all. And it’s the match that connected to my awareness of the International Princess belt, the feeling that “maybe I can bring TJPW to the world too.” Q: On July 18th you defend your International Princess championship against Wakana Uehara, How important is it to once again retain your title? A: Every time I defend, I feel more and more strongly the feelings of my opponents and the fans cheering for me, and this belt keeps becoming heavier and more important to me. I believe I need this belt in order to move forward, and because of this belt I can see the direction I should be heading. I’ve only just started running! I can’t afford to stop. Q: With the Tokyo Princess cup right around the corner. Who is someone you're looking forward to face in the tournament? A: Arisu Endo! We promise every year to meet in the finals, but we’ve never actually faced each other in a tournament, so this year I really want to win my way through and fight Arisu. Q: There is so much great young talent currently in TJPW is there one or two wrestlers that you have been really impressed with? A: Everyone is growing at an amazing speed, and everyone has so many amazing qualities in their own way. Uta in particular surprises me and I respect a lot about her. Tokyo Joshi Pro-Wrestling will run their Summer Sun Princess '26 show live on July 18th exclusively on WRESTLEUNIVERSE. The card is stacked, with Wakana Uehara looking to dethrone International Princess Champion Suzume, and the DayDream team of Rika Tatsumi and Miu Watanabe putting their Princess Tag Team Championships on the line against Kyōraku Kyōmei. The main-event of the show will see Miyu Yamashita vying to become an unprecedented five-time Princess Champion by defeating current champion Yuki Arai, and we were lucky enough to catch a few words with The Pink Striker ahead of what is sure to be a sensational match, and potentially history-making, match. Q. You had a much talked about match against Jayme Hayter at Pro Wrestling Eve earlier this year. Since that match went to a time limit draw, are there future plans for a rematch? Possibly in Japan? A. There are no plans yet right now, but I definitely want a rematch. The possibility isn’t zero. It would be amazing if this match could happen in Japan! Q. You’ve competed several times for Joshi Barnett’s Bloodsport. Who was your favorite opponent, and who would you like to fight in a Bloodsport style match? A. My first match was against Shayna, and that was an intense first fight for me. And the next match was against Natalya. Even now, many fans and wrestlers still talk about that match with her, and it is a wonderful thing for me too. Being able to fight Shayna and Natalya, including the whole flow of it, was great. Also, the match with Janai, whom I have fought many times under pro-wrestling rules as well, is an unforgettable memory for me. Q. Back at Grand Princess ‘26, you and Arisu Endo had one of the best matches of the year against Sareee and Takumi Iroha. Are there any plans for you to have a singles match against either Sareee and/or Takumi? A. That was certainly the best. I really had fun and was so excited! There are no plans right now. Just like that match card was a miracle, it might happen if another miracle occurs again. Q. On July 18th in Korakuen Hall for Summer Sun Princess, you will be challenging Yuki Arai for the Princess of Princess Championship.It’s a title you haven’t held in over two years. How important is it to you to win and once again claim your spot as TJPW’s best? A. If I win this belt, it’ll be my fifth time as champion. It’s different from the first time, there are expectations that come from having done this over and over again. I have to go beyond that. This is a fight against Arai, but it’s also a fight against myself. And I will definitely win that fight. Tokyo Joshi Pro-Wrestling will run their Summer Sun Princess '26 show live on July 18th exclusively on WRESTLEUNIVERSE. The card is stacked, with Princess of Princess Champion Yuki Arai defending her belt against former four-time champion Miyu Yamashita, Wakana Uehara looking to dethrone International Princess Champion Suzume, and the DayDream team of Rika Tatsumi and Miu Watanabe putting their Princess Tag Team Championships on the line against Kyōraku Kyōmei. One of the marquee matches, the first announced for the show in fact, is Arisu Endo taking on joshi wrestling legend Aja Kong in a singles action, and we were lucky enough to catch a few words with The Walking Rainbow ahead of what is sure to be a sensational match. Q. At Grand Princess this year, you had a highly praised match teaming with Miyu Yamashita to take on Takumi Iroha and Sareee. Despite the loss many of your fans praised your performance. What were your feelings after that match? A. Immediately after the match, I was full of frustration, but at the same time, I felt that pro-wrestling is so much fun. It was a mix of emotions and I really couldn’t stop crying.Before the match started, Iroha-san and Sareee-san didn't even know my name, and they were like, "Who is this young girl?" So my mind was completely filled with the determination to carve the name "Arisu Endo" into their minds. And I believe I did it. Q. How important was it for you, and TJPW, to break the TJPW Korakuen hall attendance record? A. It is something very joyful! To be able to share a happy time with many people is happiness for me! Furthermore, I want to keep updating that record to be even larger, and someday, I want to have TJPW matches in an even bigger venue! Q. Your tag partner in Daisy Monkey, Suzume, is the current International Princess Champion. You are a former International Princess champion, are there any future plans challenging Suzume for that title? A. When I held the belt, I was frustrated that I couldn’t do anything with it just by holding it, so if I get the chance, I’d like to challenge her someday. Q. Summer Sun Princess is on July 18th in Korakuen Hall, and you are scheduled to face Aja Kong. How important is this match for your future career? A. After the match at Ryogoku Kokugikan, Aja-san spoke to me, and I was saved by her words. Because of that, when this singles match with her was decided, I felt both surprise and joy. I feel like I can move dozens or even hundreds of steps up the stairs of my pro wrestling career. Of course, I’ll fight with the intention of winning, not just to be satisfied with the experience. Q. The Tokyo Princess Cup is right around the corner. Last year you made it to the finals against Miu Watanabe. What would winning this year’s edition of the tournament mean to you? A. Last year, I gained the strength to reach the finals for the first time, and it was a year that gave me the confidence that I’m getting stronger. Recently I challenged Yuki Arai for the Princess of Princess belt and lost, but honestly it just made me more fired up. And I want that top belt in TJPW more than ever. So I want to win this tournament and fight for that belt again. Q. If you can wrestle any wrestler in North America in a singles match or tag match, who would be against? A. I was supposed to face Jada Stone in a match for the International Championship, but that didn’t happen, so I’d like to face her someday!
