| 1/27/26 | Ian Crane - #28 | Ian grew up steps from the sand at Newport River Jetties, literally from day one. He got his first board at four years old and has been surfing ever since. He moved to San Clemente at age nine, where he went to Concordia Elementary and was in class with Kolohe in fifth grade. Early on, he played every sport, as he explains he was an aggro, pissed-off little athlete stud kid. But once he started surfing in contests, he focused 100% on surfing and competing. He did NSSA events, the HB Surf Series, and WSAs. By middle school at Shorecliffs, his crew was Kolohe Andino, Luke Davis, and Tanner Rozunko, and they were in the water every day frothing and comping out. Fast forward a few years, and he was putting all his effort into qualifying for the CT, which led to the opportunity to get sponsored by O’Neill and live his dream: traveling the world, surfing the best waves, and getting paid to do it. He recently got married, and now he gets to travel the world with his wife and I mean, how does it get any better than that, ladies and gentlemen? Ian has been stoked on surfing his whole life, and it’s so cool to have him on the show sharing his life story with us. It’s truly inspiring to see him and hear his stories when he’s not globetrotting, doing the thing he loves most. | 1/27/26 | Kolohe Andino - #27 | Brother talks about getting his first board at 6 years old and how much he looked up to Mason Ho, who was full-on doing contests at the time. He tells me about being a grom and meeting Taj Burrow right around the time of his 𝑀𝑜𝑛𝑡𝑎𝑗 movie, and how stoked he was when Taj remembered his name, Kolohe. Brother won 9 NSSA titles and 5 U.S. Championships before making the CT at 17 years old, surfing against Taj Burrow, Joel Parkinson, Mick Fanning, and Kelly Slater right out of the gate. Meanwhile, his peers John John Florence and Gabriel Medina were already on tour killing it. He did the tour for well over a decade. I asked him about his film 𝑅𝑒𝑐𝑘𝑙𝑒𝑠𝑠 𝐼𝑠𝑜𝑙𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 and some of his latest surf-porn projects, 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝐿𝑎𝑡𝑒 𝐺𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑡 𝑌𝑜𝑢𝑡ℎ, 𝑆𝑚𝑜𝑜𝑐ℎ, and 𝐻𝑖𝑗𝑖𝑛𝑥. He tells me his top five favorite surfers of all time and the names of the groms he sees blowing up nowadays, kids like King Nicol, Zion Walla, Moses Hennings, Henry Mullin, and Hayden Rodgers. Nowadays, he’s raising his family, he just had his third kid, runs his brand Steko, and surfs every day, considering surfing is his medicine. | 1/27/26 | Reef McIntosh - #26 | All I really knew about Reef prior to him cruising by our studio was that he was a physically tall dude who hailed from the Garden Isle and made a name for himself on the North Shore pulling into monster-size death pits at Pipe and Backdoor. I knew of him winning not only “Wave of the Winter” in 2011 but also “Wave of the Decade” nine years later. I mean, it's not every day I’ve got a guy walking into our studio who has won “Wave of the Decade”! In fact, I'm pretty certain they've only awarded “Wave of the Decade” once so far. But I’ve gotta say, talking with Reef was nothing short of a super cool vibe and experience, as he is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. I think anyone who watches and listens to his story will share my viewpoint about this man. And hey, how insane is that wave he got at Off The Wall? I personally think it's the biggest, deepest, gnarliest wave I've ever seen ridden at one of the scariest spots on the planet. | 1/27/26 | Nate Yeomans - #25 | After a few weeks of navigating our busy Southern California lifestyles, we finally set a date and time for Nate's episode. But on the morning of, Nate found himself within striking distance of a crazed gunman running around all koo-koo for Cocoa Puffs, smack dab in the center of what is normally our quiet little beach town. Naturally, affected by the incident, as anyone would be, Nate rings me up a bit frazzled and floats the idea of a possible rescheduling. What ensues here is the episode we recorded literally an hour after that freak show with the gun. I explained to Nate, “Why don’t we just run with the energy of the morning and get in the studio straightaway, Mr.?” So, he sucked it up like the rad human that he is, and we got to it. Without further ado, let me introduce to you, my super-cool, surf-crazed, thriving-on-life audience, Nate Yeomans’ episode, where Nate will proceed to tell us all about his morning and so much more. Oh, and there's even a special appearance by the elusive Nasty Nate. But don’t tell anyone I said so. Ha ha! | 1/27/26 | Mark Gabriel - #24 | Mark first started going to Hawaii at five years old and remembers surfing in Waikiki at a spot called “The Wall.” It was a spot, as he recalls, his good friend Buttons surfed growing up too. Fast-forward a few years: at 14 years old he met Christian and Nathan down at Salt Creek one day and, strangely enough, as fate would have it, the very next day he moved to Beach Road, two doors down from the Hoffmans’ house, where Christian and Nathan were every day because it was their grandparents’ home, literally right on the sand in front of the waves at “Poche.” But in between his first wave in Waikiki and meeting the Fletcher brothers, he got his first motocross bike at nine years old. He loved racing motocross, and by 12 he was racing at the San Diego Sports Arena, Jack Murphy Stadium, Anaheim Stadium, and the L.A. Coliseum. But due to people becoming sue-happy, the tracks all closed down within a few years. Surfing eventually pulled him away, and living at the beach, combined with his love for the ocean, made it only natural that surfing would become a major force in his life, as it did. This is the intro to quite an interesting and compelling life story of one of action sports’ most likeable and enigmatic personalities. So, if you’d be stoked to see how the whole story unfolds, sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride, ladies and gentlemen, because there’s a lot more to Mark’s story, something both inspiring and entertaining. | 1/27/26 | Cameron Steele - #23 | Cameron Steele is a busy man, to put it mildly. As he says, “Jack of all trades, master of none.”Between his race team, Desert Assassins, his company, Baja HQ, and hosting various off-road racing TV shows, he’s definitely got his hands full. But let’s go back to the beginning. His mom always loved the beach and started taking him there when he was knee-high to a grasshopper. His dad had him out on a motocross bike by the time he was five years old. With his love for the beach and the ocean, he became a pro boogie boarder at a time when the sport was blowing up. He and his friend Keith Sasaki, along with a few others, were showing the world what could be done on what we surfers call a “sponge.” At one point, though, Cameron put down the boogie board and began racing motocross. From there, it was a natural evolution into racing unlimited trucks, something he’s now been doing for over two decades. Throw in hosting gigs for ESPN and just about any network willing to “play ball” with these dirt mongrels, and you could say he’s been off to the races ever since. He tells me that no matter the sport, boogie boarding, motocross, or off-road racing, he’s always competed to win. He raced Supercross at Anaheim Stadium in 1992 and, as he says, “Here I am 22 years later, still racing unlimited trucks at the highest level.” Cameron shared that they’ve already won two races this year, and it’s clear he’s found his greatest athletic success in off-road racing. He also shared his top five favorite surfers of all time, and yes, I even managed to get him to name his top five favorite skaters, too. Such a cool episode, and I’m confident anyone who listens will be inspired, because Cameron’s story is nothing short of inspiring. | 1/27/26 | Paulo Guillobel - #22 | Paulo was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and raised in a small surfing town called Barra de Tijuca. At 2½ years old, his mom had already started teaching him to swim. He played soccer from a very young age, as he explains all kids do in Brazil. He was also very into basketball, playing point guard up through his teenage years, and at 13 years old, he was the third highest-ranked three-point shooter in Rio. He got into boogie boarding at age 11 and enjoyed it, as he says boogie boarding was pretty big in Brazil at the time. A friend gave him his first surfboard, a 6'5" thruster, by junior high school, which he says was a pretty tough transition. But he knew it was time to stand up and get barreled, which he loves doing to this day. In seventh grade, he says there was a guy who was bullying his two best friends. Soon enough, this guy turned his attention to Paulo, who was 13 years old at the time. At school, the bully came looking for Paulo in his classroom and told him to meet outside at recess, where he and three of his friends got violent, four-on-one style. So, Paulo decided enough was enough and went to find a martial arts dojo. The first one he found was a karate studio, but he saw the bully training there. So, he left to look elsewhere. Eventually, he found a jiu-jitsu school and the rest is history, as they say. | 1/27/26 | David Elecciri - #21 | David Elecciri was born into a house where both parents were really into music. There were guitars, a piano, drum set and record player playing all kinds of music. Jazz, blues, rock, reggae, swing jazz and country. Being of Mexican descent there was lots of old Spanish records and mariachi music as he explains "all the good stuff from Mexico." He knew from a very young age that he wanted to make it as a musician. His dad was a football coach and David loved playing the game along with surfing, so he was growing up into music, football and surfing here in the coolest little beach town this side of Coolangatta. He gives all love and respect to his parents who always supported him following his dreams and pursuits. He grew up with Wardo and they are still close to this day. Seeing Chris ripping at such a young age along with the Fletchers, Justin Mattison and Robo were all huge inspirations. But as much as he loved surfing, he realized early on that a career in pro surfing wasn't his destiny. So, he set his sights on the NFL or becoming a professional musician and here we are three decades after high school and not only is he a professional musician, but he plays guitar and sings in one of the world's most prominent and respected reggae bands, Steel Pulse. Honestly, it couldn't have happened to a nicer dude. David Elecciri aka David Electric is one of the most positive soulful characters you will ever meet. If you want to discover how David went from being a music loving football playing surfed out grom to being in one of the most iconic reggae bands on the planet then check out episode 21 and enjoy the ride my friends. On this episode, you will see his new song and surf themed music video he did with the Colapinto Brothers, Cole Houshmand, Kade Matson and Jett Schilling titled "Pulling Up For The Champions". David performs for us in the studio the world premiere of his new song "All On The Line." | 1/27/26 | Matt Archbold - #20 | Matt talks about his early days in the water as a grom, surfing with his buddies at T Street and the pier. He got his first surfboard at 11 years old and vividly remembers standing up on a wave and riding it all the way to shore at T Street. From that moment on, he was hooked, all he wanted to do was surf. His first surf trip was with his mom and brother to Oahu, and not long after, he landed a sponsorship with Hobie. He shares how he started out riding single fins and twin fins, but when Simon Anderson invented the thruster, everything changed. By the age of 14, he knew he wanted to be a pro surfer, and by 16, he was on tour, competing against legends like Pottz, Derek Ho, Dane Kealoha, MR, Shaun Tomson, Rabbit, Tom Carroll, and Occy. Matt also talks about a move he pioneered, the lean-forward, lay-back and how, during that time, he truly felt like he was traveling the world and living the dream. Still, he remembers feeling frustrated by the judging criteria of that era, which eventually took a toll on him. Later, Timmy Patterson shaped him a couple of boards, and Matt headed to the North Shore, where he ended up reinventing himself, riding super short boards at a pumping Off The Wall. He also shares his top five favorite surfers of all time. Matt talks about how Dane Kealoha showed him the ropes on the North Shore, his deep love and respect for Herbie Fletcher, and the major influence Roy Gonzales has had in his life. Finally, he shares what he’s been up to lately with his brand Archy’s Garage, and how stoked he is to finally have his passport back after two years. | 1/27/26 | Tiimmy Patterson - #19 | On this weeks episode, Timmy Patterson talks about his dad moving from Oahu to San Diego in 1956/57, becoming part of the Windansea crew, and then eventually moving up to Dana Point. He got a job at Hobie Surfboards, and at one point, Timmy’s dad and both his uncles were sanding, laminating, and doing pin lines at the Hobie factory. Timmy was born and raised in Dana Point and to this day, he still lives literally ten houses from where he grew up, which I gotta say, is so cool. He grew up surfing Doheny and Poche and shaped his first surfboard in the family garage in 1979. He got that first blank from Brad Basham; in the same building Timmy has now worked out of for 30 years. He talks about shaping for Christian, Archy, and Dino back in the day, and how much he loves every aspect of surfboard production from start to finish all the way down to the lost art of glass-on fins. He shares how he quit working at Hobie to go work for Chris McElroy, and we also dive into all the talent that came out of San Clemente both surfers and shapers. We talk about Randy Sleigh, and how he and Chris McElroy were absolute rock star shapers. We also talk about Timmy’s riders today, including World Champion and Olympic Gold Medalist Italo Ferreira, and Alan Cleland Jr., along with so many other talents from this hotbed of surfing like Kolohe, Griff, Crosby, Cole, and more. I asked him about his top five surfers of all time, and we talk about the classic, highly influential surf flick Free Ride and the impact it had on all of us at the time. He tells me stories about his grandpa shaping boards in the 1940s, stories Walter Hoffman passed down to him. And now, Timmy’s son Keone is shaping alongside him, making it four generations of surfboard builders. Such a legacy, such a Patterson family tradition. He talks about traveling the world with his son, shaping boards in places like the Canary Islands, Portugal, Brazil, Bali, and Hawaii. And, of course, we talk about seeing the stoke in the eyes of the groms and how he wants to keep that stoke alive by surfing and shaping every single day. For Timmy Patterson, it’s all about sharing the stoke and I gotta say, I couldn’t be more stoked to share this episode with you, my friends. | 1/27/26 | Nick Hernandez - #18 | This week I sit down with Nick Hernandez, a.k.a. Nick I., lead singer of the reggae band Common Sense. We talk about his early musical influences, the formation of Common Sense nearly 40 years ago, and the new album they’re currently working on. We also dive into his love of skimboarding, a passion that runs much deeper than most people might realize, along with some classic stories of surfing in Hawaii and traveling abroad. Nick shares what it was like to recently play with his hero, Taj Mahal, at the New Orleans Jazz Festival, a true highlight of his musical journey. We cover so much in this episode, and as a bonus, Nick treats us to a very cool ukulele performance you won’t want to miss. | 1/27/26 | Roy Gonzalez - #17 | I have the one, the only, the original real deal, often imitated, never regulated, artist extraordinaire, Mr. Roy Gonzales, on my show, and I couldn't be more stoked. I’ve done almost 20 episodes so far of "Talk To The Dr." and I’ve been having so much fun rappin' out with so many cool characters. But ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, freaks, geeks, legends, and weirdos... this episode is one for the ages, my friends. We dive straight into a free-flowing rant that covers everything from his memories of my high school wardrobe choices to the roots of Have A Chips and the Hare Krishna days in Laguna Beach. Roy talks about chatting with God, and how God talks back like when he tells you to paddle back out after a wipeout. Because if you don’t, you won’t catch any more waves. It’s as simple as that… and Roy ties that to life’s ups and downs in the most metaphorical, meaningful way. Such cool stuff and I’m literally having so much fun; it doesn’t even seem fair that I get to do this for my job. But like they say (whoever they are), someone’s gotta do it... right? Let me put it this way: we talk about so much, and rather than try to pen a literal show description here in this space, let me simply ask you to take a moment. Slow down a bit, kick back, and take this ride with me as we bring you Part 1 of my chat with one of San Clemente’s most creative, humorous, intelligent, and truly classic characters this town has ever produced. | 1/27/26 | Kirra Pinkerton - #16 | On this weeks episode Kirra Pinkerton talks about how she started surfing at just two years old. At 11, she paddled out to 8-foot Hanalei with her dad, Jim, and quickly discovered her lack of fear and love of adrenaline. It was that day she knew she wanted to ride big waves. She began competing on the QS in 2014 and became the 𝐖𝐒𝐋 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧 at 16. Kirra is currently competing in the 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬, with her sights set on earning a spot on the 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫 (𝐂𝐓) and she's already had a few opportunities as a wildcard. She shares her love for traveling, including the eight months she spent in Bali during COVID. Kirra also names her top five favorite surfers and gives us the inside scoop on what it was like to paddle out at Jaws. Plus, she recounts how incredible it was to surf that mysto wave during the 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 event. | 1/27/26 | Hans Sylstra - #15 | On this weeks episode we sit down with Hans Sylstra. We talk about his family coming to San Clemente in 1926, and how he was on the beach at T-Street when he was literally two days old. His dad gave him his first surfboard, a 6'6" Midget Smith single fin. He grew up playing soccer and baseball, but once he discovered surfing, it was all over. His mom's good friend married Al Merrick, and their families became super tight. That’s when Tom Curren entered the picture and a close friendship developed between Tom and Hans. In fact, it was Tom who first inspired Hans to pick up a guitar. And if you’ve ever seen Hans surf, Tom’s influence is clear. Hans is a smooth, stylish flow-master with a graceful, soulful approach to a wave. We talk about surf travels to Mexico, Hawaii, and Australia. He shares a great story about hitchhiking in Oz and none other than Cheyne Horan pulled over to give him a ride somewhere outside of Byron Bay. Shifting to music, Hans picked up a guitar and found one of his life’s great passions. He formed his first band, Seal Rock, with childhood best friends Matt Hamilton, Gavin Day, and Derek Harris. They played everything from beach parties to clubs, an incredible time in his life filled with surfing, playing music, and traveling with his bandmates to Puerto Escondido and beyond. His next music project was a duo with his wife, Janine, who sang and played drums while Hans played guitar and sang. Today, he’s still doing much the same, surfing and playing music. Living life. Loving life. Check out the full episode on our Youtube channel www.youtube.com/@twinpalmsentertainment949 Instagram https://www.instagram.com/talktothedoctor/ | 1h 40m 07s | ||||||
