About this episode

Nate Matos discusses the interplay of Japanese and American camping styles and his work with KōROGI.

Nate Matos started KōROGI last year, offering historical activations that share the interplay of Japanese and American camping styles, as well as offering unique Japanese camping brands in the US. I met Nate at Campfield’s SPW 2024 in Long Beach, Washington, not knowing he was the man behind much of the Snow Peak online communities. He was hosting a workshop on SP history and culture, detailing the story of the first products, the ups and downs, and the circumstances that led to the first SPW. I was completely fascinated. Nate is a true knowledge keeper, camping culture connoisseur, and he makes a wicked cup of pourover. So extremely glad I got so spend time with Nate and his partner Jenny at SPW.
