About this episode

This episode discusses how Minecraft has been used as a platform for free speech through the creation of the Uncensored Library.

Minecraft is an open-world game in which players can freely build and break blocks to build anything they imagine. Unexpectedly, it has also become the platform in which a virtual library was built, to deliver censored material to vulnerable countries in which access to information is limited. The Reporters Without Borders built the Uncensored Library in 2020, which contained corridors categorized by country (ex. Russia or Egypt). A few weeks ago, in response to the developing political climate the Uncensored Library unveiled it's latest branch: the United States.
