We’re in a world (or society) that is corrupt to its core. We see division, lust, greed, pride, lovers of self, etc… all over the place. We have devices that promote self-indulgence into whatever we want, and how much do you suppose it’s used for the Glory of God?! We have our “wisest” among us that say to speak “your truth” and that “perspective is reality” and all manner of other idioms or colloquialisms that keep you tethered to self and make it hard to look any further than yourself.
