Through union with Jesus in His death and resurrection, believers are released from the law’s authority and joined to the risen Christ in order to bear fruit for God. The law itself is holy and good, yet it exposes the deeper problem of sin within the human heart and our inability to produce righteousness on our own. Paul then describes the tension believers experience as they delight in God’s law yet still feel the pull of sin in the flesh. This struggle leads to a cry for deliverance that finds its answer in Jesus Christ, who alone rescues His people and leads them into the freedom and hope of life without condemnation.
