Celebrating Death in Birth: The Early Freebirth of Freya RoseAfter experiencing a traumatic first birth, Erin decided she was going to freebirth her second child and during her pregnancy weaved a beautiful web of wise women around her; who would later become her supportive tribe when she birthed her babe early.Erin speaks so powerfully and so candidly about the loss of her baby girl and the medicine she received in being able to do so. After an older wise women in her community told Kendall that Mothers used to birth their babies in the local river, she decided to birth her first babe at home - and that hiring a Midwife would be a 'happy medium' as a first time Mum.But once there was meconium in her waters, and her Midwife had consulted the hospital behind her back, she didn't feel supported anymore. Kendall's homebirth transfer resulted in a traumatic first birth. She lost trust in herself and became confused as to why her experience was so different from the birth vision she had worked so hard to manifest.Second time pregnant, Kendall spontaneously cancelled her one and only Midwife appointment to go surfing with her husband - and from that day forward took sole responsibility of her prenatal care. Kendall rented an Air BnB and found a supportive birth partner in her sister, alongside her husband.A momentary lapse in confidence during labour saw Kendall heading back to the same hospital she had birthed her first son. But divine intervention (and 2 cattle grids!) swept in en route to stop that from happening.
