Maddox died on June 20th, 2021, after being brought to Waldo County General Hospital completely unresponsive. The state medical examiner determined that his death was a homicide caused by "battered child syndrome," detailing extensive blunt-force trauma injuries including a fractured spine, bleeding in his brain and abdomen, a ruptured bowel, and missing teethHis mother, Jessica Trefethen (also known as Jessica Williams and Jessica Johnson), claimed the injuries resulted from a trampoline accident and being kicked by an older sibling.
